Are you looking for the next step to kick-start your transition from being a student to becoming a young professional within manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in an international research based pharmaceutical company? Then we have the Graduate Programme for you.

As part of your two-year graduate journey at Lundbeck you will be exposed to various parts of the business and encounter many exciting challenges across the company. The learning curve will be steep and we expect a lot from you, but in return we offer a programme that will empower you to grow both on a professional and personal level.

Chemical Engineering and Maintenance in Lundbeck

Chemical Engineering and Maintenance is an integrated part of Lundbeck’s Chemical Production where we produce active pharmaceutical ingredients at our two API facilities, which are located in Lumsås, Denmark (190 employees) and Padova, Italy (120 employees). The active substances are small molecules, which are produced through organic chemistry applying a number of process technological unit operations.

At both sites, various departments, each with its own area of expertise, are required for running an effective operation. These departments include; Purchasing, Planning, Warehouse, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, QC/QA, Health & Safety & Environment, Process Research & Development and Sales.

Production is conducted according to cGMP and both facilities are regularly audited by relevant regulatory authorities, such as FDA.

The organisation is 10 years mature in operational excellence and very focused on continuous improvement principles and honoured with the prestigious Shingo recognitions. We maintain a safe and sound workplace and work systematically with personnel development.

The graduate position is based at the Danish Chemical Production Facility in Lumsås, Nykøbing Sjælland.

Chemical Engineering and Maintenance is responsible for implementing and maintaining all equipment and facilities at the production site in Lumsås.

Your job and the journey

As a graduate with us you will achieve 360-degree insight and hands-on experience within the fundamental job-functions in executing projects in chemical production in Lundbeck.

The two-year programme is divided into 4 periods: you will start in an engineering position at the Danish facility in Lumsås to get insight in the design, construction and qualification of pharmaceutical production equipment.

Then, a stay in the Engineering department at our Italian facility is envisioned, which will grow your international skills and bind the sites together.

Upon this, a period in Chemical Process Development is planned where you will get an insight of engineering seen from the chemical production perspective.

The final period will take place in the engineering area where you will have specific tasks relating to the link between engineering and maintenance development.

By the end of the programme you will have acquired a very strong, cross-functional profile for continuing your career in Lundbeck.

During the programme you will participate in a wide range of development activities on your own as well as with other graduates - everything designed to guide you through the programme, making sure you are on track and able to unfold your potential.
