Position overview
The Migraine Marketing Director serves as the strategic launch leader for a high-impact innovative migraine asset in China. This role goes beyond traditional brand management and acts as the portfolio architect during pre-launch, launch, and commercialization phases.
The position is accountable for shaping the market, defining long-term portfolio ambition, and building the foundation for sustainable growth. As a key member of the launch preparation team, this role requires strong strategic thinking, enterprise mindset, and exceptional leadership and influence across functions and senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
1. Strategic portfolio leadership
- Define the long-term vision, ambition, and strategic roadmap for the migraine portfolio in close alignment with Global strategy while adapting to Local market dynamics and business priorities. Translate corporate strategy into a clear, actionable business plan with multi-year growth scenarios.
- Anticipate competitive dynamics, policy evolution, and treatment paradigm shifts to proactively shape strategic direction.
2. Pre-launch excellence and launch governance
- Own end-to-end pre-launch strategy, including deep market landscaping, segmentation, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
- Establish a robust launch excellence governance model with defined milestones, KPIs, risk management, and cross-functional accountability.
- Drive full organizational readiness across Sales, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Global teams.
- Lead market shaping initiatives in partnership with Medical and KOLs to influence treatment guidelines and disease awareness.
- Integrate multichannel engagement strategies and AI-enabled analytics into launch planning to enhance targeting precision, engagement effectiveness, and launch performance visibility.
3. Commercial acceleration and lifecycle strategy
- Ensure seamless transition from launch to sustained commercial acceleration with clear performance tracking and agile decision-making.
- Build early lifecycle planning into launch strategy, identifying long-term differentiation levers including evidence generation and portfolio expansion.
- Build a closed-loop ecosystem to optimize patient journey, including development of Center of Excellence (COE) networks and comprehensive patient service programs to enhance diagnosis, treatment adherence, and long-term outcomes.
- Optimize resource allocation and P&L impact to ensure sustainable and profitable growth.
- Drive commercial excellence standards and continuously elevate execution quality.
4. Value strategy and access foresight
- Develop forward-looking pricing and access strategies that protect long-term brand value.
- Develop and implement Patient Support Programs (PSP) to improve patient affordability and access during early commercialization phases.
- Partner with Government Affairs and Medical teams to strengthen health economic narratives and real-world evidence planning.
- Support long-term scenarios for reimbursement negotiations and potential procurement environments.
5. Leadership, influence, and organizational impact
- Build and lead a high-performing migraine marketing team with strong accountability and succession planning.
- Inspire and influence cross-functional teams beyond direct reporting lines to achieve shared objectives.
- Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and performance excellence.
- Coach and develop future leaders within the organization.
6. Additional responsibilities
- Undertake other tasks and strategic initiatives assigned by the line manager in alignment with business priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Medicine, Pharmacy, Marketing, or related field; MBA strongly preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of pharmaceutical experience, with significant exposure to innovative product launches.
- Proven track record as a strategic launch leader for high-impact or specialty products.
- Experience in CNS, specialty care, or biologics preferred.
- Strong understanding of market access, pricing strategy, and policy landscape.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead without authority.
- Strong strategic mindset, business acumen, and enterprise thinking.
