Lundbeck Seattle BioPharmaceuticals (Lu-SBP), located in Bothell, Washington, is the Process Development Center of Excellence for Biologics within the global Lundbeck CMC organization. Since integrating into Lundbeck in October 2019, Lu-SBP has supported commercial launch of Lundbeck’s first biologic product (Vyepti) and advancement of a growing biologics pipeline in collaboration with our Copenhagen-based Process Science & Validation Team. The Lu-SBP team leads and supports the development of new product candidates from cell line development through commercial validation of Drug Substance and Drug Product manufacturing processes. Internship will run from 6/17/24 through 9/13/24 - prefer local candidates attending local universitites in the greater Seattle, WA area

 

SUMMARY:

Lundbeck Seattle Biopharmaceuticals (LuSBP) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Analytical Development Department as a summer intern, participating in analytical method development for biopharmaceutical products. The successful candidate will learn size exclusion chromatography theory, operation of Agilent and Waters LC instruments, wet chemistry lab skills, data analysis with Empower software, chromatography data interpretation, and documentation of experimental results using an electronic lab notebook.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicate and collaborate within Analytical Development and cross-functional areas (Upstream, Downstream and Formulation Developments)
  • Operate Agilent HPLC and Waters UPLC instruments
  • Perform common laboratory calculations for buffer preparation
  • Conduct wet chemistry procedures
  • Perform data analysis with Empower software and MS Excel
  • Assist in maintenance of lab equipment
  • Record experimental data using an electronic lab notebook
  • Analyze and communicate scientific results in written reports and oral presentations
  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Enrolled towards a BS or equivalent degree in physical or life sciences (chemistry, biochemistry, biology, etc.)
  • Enthusiastic attitude, team spirit and willingness to learn
  • Attention to detail

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Completed introductory Analytical Chemistry coursework
  • Some laboratory experience or basic understanding of laboratory principles and techniques.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with MS programs and tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.

The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Washington, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role.
