Since integrating into Lundbeck in October 2019, Lu-SBP has supported commercial launch of Lundbeck’s first biologic product (Vyepti) and advancement of a growing biologics pipeline in collaboration with our Copenhagen-based Process Science & Validation Team. The Lu-SBP team leads and supports the development of new product candidates from cell line development through commercial validation of Drug Substance and Drug Product manufacturing processes. Internship will run from 6/17/24 through 9/13/24 - prefer local candidates attending local universitites in the greater Seattle, WA area

 

SUMMARY:

Lundbeck Seattle Biopharmaceuticals (LuSBP) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Cell Culture Development (CCD) team as a summer intern, participating in upstream process development for biopharmaceutical products The successful candidate will learn aseptic cell culture techniques, bioreactor operation (250 mL to 200 L), cell culture media preparation, in-process analytical instrumentation, statistical experimental design, and data analysis with JMP Software.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicate and collaborate with Cell Culture Development team members and other cross-functional areas (Downstream and Analytical Development).
  • Perform cell culture laboratory tasks related to the setup, operation, tear down and cleanup of Bioreactor runs and shake flask studies.
  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines at all times.
  • Assist in maintenance of lab equipment, cleaning, and ordering lab supplies.
  • Record experimental data timely and accurately using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)
  • Analyze and communicate results in written reports and group presentations.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Enrolled towards a BS or equivalent degree in the sciences.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Lift/carry up to 40 pounds unassisted/assisted.
  • Weekend/holiday work may be required.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience with aseptic techniques will be particularly valuable.
  • Completed introductory Biology and/or Chemistry coursework.
  • Some laboratory experience or basic understanding of laboratory principles and techniques.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency with various MS Office platforms including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.

  • None expected.
