SUMMARY:
Lundbeck Seattle Biopharmaceuticals (LuSBP) is seeking a highly motivated and innovative summer intern to join the Formulation Development (FD) team. This unique internship offers hands-on laboratory experience in biologics formulation development combined with the opportunity to develop AI-enabled digital tools that enhance formulation workflows, data analysis, and knowledge management.
The intern will contribute to high-throughput formulation screening and analytical testing while also partnering with scientists to explore the use of AI to streamline experimental design, data interpretation, and documentation practices. This is an exciting opportunity for a student interested in the intersection of laboratory science, biologics development, and digital transformation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Communicate and collaborate with Formulation Development team members and other cross-functional areas (Downstream and Analytical Development).
- Perform formulation development work, including buffer preparation and sample measurements.
- Follow laboratory safety guidelines, assist in maintenance of lab equipment, cleaning, and ordering lab supplies.
- Record experimental data timely and accurately using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN).
- Analyze and communicate results in written reports and group presentations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Currently enrolled in a BS (or equivalent) program in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular & cellular biology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, data science, or a related scientific field.
- Completed introductory coursework in Biology and/or Chemistry.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Interest in both laboratory research and emerging AI/digital tools.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and ChatGPT.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Prior laboratory experience or understanding of standard laboratory techniques and principles.
- Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) for scientific or technical tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity, initiative, and enthusiasm for innovation at the intersection of science and technology.
- Exposure to electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, R, Python, or similar).
The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Washington, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $21-$26/ hour. Applications accepted on an ongoing basis.
