Since integrating into Lundbeck in October 2019, Lu-SBP has supported commercial launch of Lundbeck’s first biologic product (Vyepti) and advancement of a growing biologics pipeline in collaboration with our Copenhagen-based Process Science & Validation Team. The Lu-SBP team leads and supports the development of new product candidates from cell line development through commercial validation of Drug Substance and Drug Product manufacturing processes. Internship will run approximately through mid-September - prefer local candidates attending local universities in the greater Seattle, WA area

 

SUMMARY: 

Lundbeck Seattle Biopharmaceuticals (LuSBP) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Potency group of the Analytical Development Department as a summer intern, participating in analytical method development for biopharmaceutical products. The successful candidate will learn cell-based functional assays and cell culture, operation of microplate readers, sterile technique, data analysis with Softmax and JMP software, relative potency data interpretation, and documentation of experimental results using an electronic lab notebook. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Learn and perform cell-based functional assays to complete a project over the course of the program under the supervision of mentor. 

  • Learn and perform cell culture of adherent cell lines using sterile technique 

  • Learn and perform data analysis and data interpretation with Softmax software and JMP statistical software  

  • Communicate and collaborate within Analytical Development and cross-functional areas (Upstream, Downstream and Formulation Developments) 

  • Perform common laboratory calculations for buffer preparation, cell passaging, and sample dilution 

  • Assist in maintenance of lab equipment 

  • Record experimental data using an electronic lab notebook 

  • Analyze and communicate scientific results in written reports and oral presentations 

  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: 

  • Enrolled towards a BS or equivalent degree in life sciences (cell/molecular/cancer biology, genetics, immunology, biological engineering or related disciplines) 

  • Enthusiastic attitude, team spirit and willingness to learn 

  • Attention to detail 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: 

  • Completed introductory Cell Biology coursework 

  • Some laboratory experience or basic understanding of laboratory principles and techniques. 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills 

  • Proficiency with MS programs and tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
