Analytical Specialist/Senior Analytical Specialist, Analytical Development - Valby
Lundbeck’s passion links to our purpose of advancing brain health and transforming lives so every person can be their best. By developing innovative treatments, we improve the lives of people living with brain diseases.
If you have a background in Solid Form Characterisation you could be our new Analytical Specialist (or Senior Specialist) in Analytical Development (AD).
Your new role
- You will lead the physico-chemical characterization of new development compounds to gain a thorough understanding of their properties (crystal form, thermal behavior, hygroscopicity, and physical stability under humidity, heat, pressure, and grinding/milling).
- You will be responsible for salt, cocrystal, and polymorphism investigations to guide the selection of the optimal solid form.
- You will analyze the crystal structures of obtained forms and combine these insights with other physico-chemical results (e.g., TGA, DSC, DVS) to rationalize physical stability and behavior.
- You will oversee XRPD analyses and provide guidance to colleagues when new forms or mixtures appear in XRPD results.
- You will manage thermal analysis equipment (TGA, DSC, DVS, and hot-stage microscopy).
- You will collaborate with highly skilled technicians working across various analytical techniques (XRPD, TGA, DSC, DVS, Crystal16, FTIR, etc.).
- You will support chemical production, for example by developing and validating FTIR methods for solid form identification and troubleshooting issues related to physico-chemical properties.
- You will contribute to additional tasks such as equipment qualification, writing Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, and analytical procedures, documenting deviations, and supporting the development and maintenance of other systems.
- You will work closely with the crystallization team to optimize the crystallization process for the selected solid form.
- You will participate in cross-organizational teams and project activities.
Your future team
AD is part of the Chemical & Pharmaceutical Development (C&PD) organization. C&PD is a division responsible for the CMC development and innovation within new drug candidates based on chemically synthesized molecules.
The department consists of 27 people equally divided between technicians and scientists working within analytical development of drug substances and drug products. As our new analytical specialist (senior specialist) within solid form characterisation, you’ll work closely with experienced colleagues – both chemists and technicians – in a hands-on and supportive setting.
What you bring to the team
Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional qualifications:
- PhD in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or engineering, with strong expertise in physical chemistry and crystallography.
- Experience with analytical techniques for physico-chemical characterization in small-molecule development (XRPD, TGA, DSC, DVS, and FTIR), supported by a solid foundation in organic chemistry.
- A scientific mindset with a strong curiosity to explore and understand connections between observations.
- Preferably, practical experience working under GMP or similar quality systems, with the ability to work in a structured and methodical manner.
- A motivated and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
