Competitive Intelligence Analyst in Research and Development, Project & Portfolio Management


Job description

In Research and Development, we are opening a new and exciting position as Competitive Intelligence (CI) Analyst within Project and Portfolio Management (PPM). In PPM, we manage the R&D portfolio and lead all global development programs through a strong matrix organisation. PPM is a vibrant, organizational hotspot with strong interfaces to senior/executive management, senior governance boards, and business areas such as Research, Clinical, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Business Development, Investor Relations, and Finance.


As Lundbeck expands and invests to grow, our ability to evaluate the impact of competitor activities and scientific developments is critically important. To strengthen our CI capabilities, you will as CI Analyst – together with our colleagues in R&D and other business areas – impact our strategy and decision-making at the project, portfolio, and corporate level.

Your job and key responsibilities

Your first responsibility will be to develop and implement a new setup for CI in R&D, including processes for monitoring, analyzing, and disseminating the impact assessment of events in the competitive environment. Once developed, you will work closely with Global Project Teams, neuroscience experts, clinicians, etc. to diligently generate impactful CI insights for a broad range of stakeholders in the organization.


You will present CI analyses to Global Project Teams throughout the value chain as well as to management on a regular basis. You will participate in our global annual portfolio reviews, where decisions on strategy for the individual projects and prioritization of our portfolio are made.


You get the opportunity to take on the role as the anchor and face of CI in Lundbeck’s R&D – with exposure across the organization and rich opportunity for professional/personal development. You will work closely with other business areas (e.g., Commercial and Business Development) to nurture competitive intelligence across the company.


You will report to the Portfolio Manager, Director in PPM. Some travel days can be expected, with opportunity for attending several scientific conferences per year.



Our preferred candidate


  • has extensive experience as CI analyst, or similar: monitoring, analyzing and reporting on competitor activities and generating data-driven impact assessments to support strategy development and decision-making at project, portfolio, and corporate levels
  • has a scientific background (e.g., Master of Science or PhD), as well as a bachelor’s degree in business or similar
  • has a thorough understanding of the value chain in pharma and has 5+ years of pharma/biotech development experience
  • is structured and with a goal- and result-oriented mindset
  • can handle several tasks in parallel, and sometimes under tight deadlines
  • works well with teams
  • has strong analytical skills
  • is pragmatic, proactive with excellent cross-cultural/-functional collaboration skills
  • manages ambiguity and thrives in a dynamic and changing environment
  • excellent presentation and English skills – both orally and written – are a requirement
