We offer the right candidate an exciting job opportunity within our Direct & R&D Sourcing team negotiating and managing a significant portfolio of 3rd party contracts covering Research, Academia, Collaborations and RWE. To succeed with the category and its many projects, we are looking for an experienced and talented Category Manager to head activities with a main focus on negotiating key research contracts.


Group Sourcing consists of 30 ambitious and enthusiastic Category Managers and Tactical Buyers securing a professional and efficient source-to-pay process across Lundbeck’s global Direct, R&D and Indirect spend. We take outset in our strongly integrated Category Management processes and deliver value through our structured approach to planning, project execution and supplier management.


Your job and key responsibilities

Our new Category Manager will join a team of 8 Category Managers within the department of Direct & R&D Sourcing. We work individually as well as in teams where sparring and mutual support are key in the way we interact. We are a homogeneous team of highly professional and ambitious colleagues who also remember that a work day needs to be fun and social.


As a member of the team, you will:

  • Take the lead in negotiating complex contracts and collaboration agreements with key research related parties, both suppliers and collaboration partners
  • Develop and execute stakeholder aligned sourcing strategies within the Research and RWE categories
  • Lifecycle management of the contract portfolio ensuring continued commercial and legal governance
  • Collaborate closely with internal key stakeholders to secure strategy and project alignment
  • Drive and manage sourcing projects utilizing category management methodology
  • Ensure quality, compliance (e.g. CSR, GxP), intellectual property, liability and regulatory requirements and overall Lundbeck long term interests across your contract portfolio


You will be meeting needs and demands from multiple stakeholders across Lundbeck, and your key responsibility will be to translate these needs into efficient contracts and agreements with relevant parties. This means that you will drive/lead/support sourcing processes and activities (research and analysis, Rfx, negotiations, contracts and implementation). You will manage your category responsibilities through the establishment, development and execution of relevant category strategies and ensure long term value and compliance through supplier and stakeholder management.




We are looking for the following qualifications in our future Category Manager:

  • A Master Degree from a Business School or University, preferably with a legal focus (E.g. Cand.Jur, Cand.Merc.Jur or similar)
  • Highly developed business partnering skills, ability to influence and an empathetic mind-set
  • Strong sourcing skills (project management, negotiation skills, extensive legal understanding, data analysis), and a profound interest in contract negotiations.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Category or Contract Manager, preferable with experience in above mentioned or related categories.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a structured approach to category management
  • The ability to manage many projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with e-sourcing and preferably Ariba
  • A keen interest for Sourcing and in continuously developing your skill set
  • English fluency, verbally and written
