Clinical Data Engineer - Digital Technologies

Then we may have the right job for you as we are currently looking for a Clinical Data Engineer to develop data pipelines driving digital solutions utilized in the conduct of our clinical trials.


The position is in Digital Technologies, which is part of the Biometrics Division. This team is managing, supporting and implementing digital solutions utilized in all stages of our clinical trials, from applications used in site selection, clinical trial management, investigator portal, data capture, visualization and reporting. The system landscape includes industry standard systems, such as RAVE, SAS, EntimICE and Spotfire and is complemented with systems specifically tailored to Lundbeck’s requirements. We work with a combination of on-premise and in cloud systems. Our team covers several areas of specialty, including digital health technologies, business analytics, and data engineering.


The position is placed at Lundbeck’s headquarter in Copenhagen, Denmark.



Your job and key responsibilities


You will primarily be working with developing digital solutions related to clinical trials data, to help generate insights from connected data, enabling Lundbeck to advance the data-driven decision-making capabilities for clinical trials.


As a Data Engineer, you will also apply your expertise within computer science and engineering to handle omics, clinical and real-world data in preparation for further analysis by Data Scientists, Bioinformaticians, Statisticians, and Researchers.


You will be a member of the recently established Digital Agile Lab. Lundbeck has for years used technology to enable the development and launch of innovative treatments to patients. Recently, we have explored new digital opportunities supported by agile ways of working, and have established the Digital Agile Lab to drive more business value from our use cases and deliver these more efficiently by applying agile ways of working with a team of focused experts. As a member of a multidisciplinary Agile team, you will work on developing high quality data pipelines driving digital solutions.




Our preferred candidate has the following profile:

  • You have a master’s degree in an IT or Life Science related field, preferably in Computer Science or Engineering
  • You have at least 3 years’ work experience in data engineering role or similar, from a biotech, medical device or pharmaceutical company
  • You have a deep understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, reporting, and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows
  • You have experience working with Python and familiarity with other programming languages
  • Experience working with Cloud Service Providers such as AWS or Microsoft Azure is desirable
  • Experience working with Spotfire and Shiny is an advantage
  • You have experience with 21 CFR Part 11 and Computer Systems Validation
  • You are passionate about Agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and experimentation, and might have experience working on a collaborative Agile product team
  • You have strong problem-solving and learning skills
  • You are analytical, goal-oriented, innovative and proactive
  • You have strong interpersonal and team skills, and great communication skills
  • You are fluent in written and oral English
