Director, AI Solutions & Engineering
Copenhagen, Danish Capital Region, DK
Director, AI Solutions and Engineering
At Lundbeck, we are building a bionic company. We believe competitive advantage will not come from AI models alone, but from how we combine them with Lundbeck’s unique neuroscience expertise, data and enterprise knowledge to transform how we work, discover, develop and deliver treatments. In a global, regulated pharmaceutical environment, this means moving with both ambition and responsibility; rapidly exploring what AI makes possible while ensuring what we scale is secure, trusted and sustainable.
As Director, AI Solutions & Engineering, you will lead Lundbeck’s enterprise capability for AI solution architecture, engineering and industrialization. Working closely with the Chief AI Office, business leaders and technology teams, you will turn strategic AI opportunities into scalable solutions that create measurable value across Lundbeck.
AI Solutions & Engineering enables and scales AI solutions across Lundbeck while exploring and advancing high-value applications of frontier AI. Your team will rapidly explore and de-risk emerging capabilities, build advanced and differentiated solutions where dedicated engineering creates value, and establish the reusable architecture, engineering patterns and paved pathways that enable teams across Lundbeck to build safely and move fast. A key part of your mandate will be creating a clear path from experimentation and citizen-built solutions to secure, scalable and professionally engineered enterprise solutions.
This role is based at Lundbeck’s headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark, and requires regular on-site presence.
Your responsibilities
- Lead a high-performing team spanning AI and software engineering, solution architecture and applied AI specialists.
- Partner with the Chief AI Office and senior business leaders to translate strategic AI opportunities into well-defined use cases, experiments and scalable solutions, owning the technical pathway from opportunity to enterprise production.
- Lead the architecture, engineering and deployment of advanced AI solutions, including assistants, agents and AI-enabled workflows, building on enterprise platforms where possible and developing differentiated solutions where dedicated engineering creates greater value.
- Shape Lundbeck’s federated AI engineering model by establishing reusable components, architectural guardrails and paved engineering pathways across areas such as agents, integrations, evaluation, observability, identity and deployment.
- Partner with data, digital and business teams to connect AI with Lundbeck’s data, enterprise knowledge, applications and processes through modern data, semantic, retrieval and integration patterns.
- Explore emerging frontier-model capabilities and rapidly test their application to Lundbeck’s business and scientific challenges, scaling what demonstrates meaningful value.
- Set technical direction and continuously evolve Lundbeck’s AI engineering practices in close collaboration with the Digital & AI Foundation team and other enterprise technology capabilities.
What you bring to the team
You combine deep technical credibility with strategic leadership and strong business judgment. You can translate emerging technology into practical business opportunities, guide senior technical teams and act as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders. You are collaborative and pragmatic, but also able to form and defend a clear technical point of view in a complex environment. Most importantly, you start with the business problem and value to be created, not the technology itself.
Moreover, you possess most of the following qualifications:
- Experience designing, building and scaling AI solutions in large, complex or regulated organizations.
- Strong expertise across Generative AI, large language models, intelligent agents, evaluation and AI operations, supported by strong software engineering and cloud fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and the ability to set AI solution architecture and engineering direction within broader enterprise principles and governance.
- Experience connecting AI with enterprise data, knowledge and business systems through APIs, semantic and retrieval architectures and modern integration patterns.
- Experience across leading AI ecosystems and model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Microsoft, with the ability to evaluate emerging capabilities and determine where they can create value at enterprise scale.
- A proven track record of building and leading multidisciplinary technical teams and establishing trusted partnerships with senior business leaders, technology teams and external partners.
