Your new role

 

As Director, Global New Asset Strategy, you play a central role in defining the commercial direction and strategic development of Lundbeck’s pipeline (internal & external assets). You represent the commercial function in Global Project Teams, ensuring that market insights, access perspectives, and patient needs shape the design of development programs. You translate scientific opportunities into business strategies, helping to position Lundbeck’s future innovations for global success.

 

This is a key strategic position bridging science and business. As Director, you will lead commercial strategies for priority assets, shaping value propositions and informing enterprise decisions. You will collaborate closely with global R&D, Business Development, and affiliate teams, and play a pivotal role in ensuring early alignment on value creation across the organization.

Global New Asset Strategy is a dynamic, multidisciplinary team within Global Corporate, Portfolio and Product Strategy (CPPS), reporting directly to the Vice President of GNAS and based at Lundbeck’s headquarters in Copenhagen. You’ll join a team of passionate colleagues who value learning from each other, bringing in external perspectives, and challenging the status quo. The department enjoys high visibility across the organization and works in close partnership with teams in Commercial, R&D, Finance, and key affiliates.

 

The position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

 

What you bring to the team

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Asset Leadership

  • Lead enterprise-wide commercial strategy for early development to ph3 internal and BD assets, defining compelling Target Product Profiles (TPPs) and Target Value Propositions (TVPs) that steer long-term value creation.
  • Represent the commercial function in Global Project Teams (GPTs) up to Phase 3 readiness, securing commercial input to inform clinical and development milestones.
  • Drive commercial strategy and lifecycle planning, ensuring clear positioning and enterprise collaboration with R&D and BD.
  • Contribute to portfolio trade-off discussions and investment recommendations for your assets by providing evidence-based insights.

Cross-Functional & External Collaboration

  • Strengthen collaboration across Research, Clinical, BD, and Commercial to embed market and patient insights into early development.
  • Partner with Global Project Lead in the GPT and manage global cross functional team such as the Commercial Access Medical (CAM) team, to maximize asset value securing enterprise collaboration.
  • Engage with affiliates, thought leaders, and market experts to inform asset positioning and readiness.
  • Lead or co-lead above-asset strategic initiatives to advance enterprise priorities.

Leadership & Development

  • Serve as a commercial thought leader in enterprise decision-making forums (DISCOVER, DELIVER) guiding investment trade-offs across R&D and Commercial.
  • Mentor and support junior team members for the Commercial Access Medical (CAM) or extended CPPS team, fostering analytical rigor and strategic acumen.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and effective communication between corporate and regional stakeholders.
  • Promote collaboration, inclusion, and an enterprise mindset within the teams within the teams you work with.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical roles, including commercial or R&D functions at HQ level. Other relevant pharma or consulting experience is highly desirable (e.g., market access, business development, pre-launch development, early commercial).
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives or cross-functional projects within complex matrix organizations.
  • International experience and exposure to early development and pre-launch activities.
  • Strong understanding of CNS therapeutic areas and early pipeline value creation.
  • Experience presenting to senior management and external stakeholders (e.g., conferences, panels).
