Your job and key responsibilities

Our new colleague will join a team of 9 Category Managers within the department of Direct & R&D Category Management. We work individually as well as in teams where sparring and mutual support are key in the way we interact. We are a diverse team of highly professional and ambitious colleagues who remember that a high paced day should likewise be fun and social.


The CMC category is complex in nature and requires a Category Manager with extensive experience within this space to ensure that category strategies and execution contribute positively to overall CMC strategy and priorities. The role requires strong business partnering skills and an ability to equally support and challenge the business to drive the right short- and long-term sourcing decisions. Complex commercial and legal contracting is a central part of day-to day business and the right candidate should be no stranger to fronting legal negotiations across the CMC category.


As a Category Manager and member of the team, you will:

  • Develop and execute stakeholder aligned sourcing strategies within the CMC category, hereunder drive a number of core business critical procurement projects, and focus on continuous procurement process optimisation
  • Collaborate closely with internal key stakeholders to secure strategy and project alignment
  • Establish and develop key supplier relationships facilitating continued optimization of deliverables and TCO
  • Drive and manage sourcing projects utilizing category management methodology, hereunder RFX, commercial and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure quality, compliance (e.g. GxP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Lifecycle management of the relevant contract portfolio ensuring continued commercial and legal value generation



We are looking for the following qualifications in our future Category Manager:

  • Master’s Degree from a University or Business School relevant to the position (business or scientific/chemical/biology background)
  • At least 3 years’ experience with CMC or alternatively similar category/sourcing area, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Extensive experience with one or more of the following areas: Pharmaceutical Development and/or Biologics, either from a procurement or business perspective
  • Strong project management skills demonstrated through a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing projects either in or related to the category areas mentioned above
  • Preferably considerable Category Management experience and alternatively a keen interest in developing skills within this methodology
  • Business partnering skills, ability to influence and an empathetic mind-set
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a structured approach
  • English fluency, verbally and written
