Finance Business Partner, CMC and Quality
Are you motivated by bringing financial clarity to complex scientific decisions? Join Lundbeck as Finance Business Partner for CMC and Corporate Product Quality and help ensure that development, manufacturing and quality decisions are made with strong financial visibility, risk-adjusted thinking and clear business impact.
Your new role
As Finance Business Partner, CMC & Quality, you will play a critical role in helping Lundbeck's CMC and Quality organizations make informed decisions in a highly complex and uncertain environment. Partnering closely with senior leaders across CMC, Corporate Product Quality, R&D Finance, and Procurement, you will translate scientific, regulatory, and operational decisions into clear financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
You will be responsible for bringing financial transparency and structure to high-ambiguity situations, ensuring that development, manufacturing, quality, and compliance decisions are made with a clear understanding of their value, risk, and long-term financial implications. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will support decision-making across the product lifecycle by assessing alternative scenarios, modelling financial outcomes, evaluating probabilities of success, and quantifying risks associated with different development pathways.
This role requires a strong ability to navigate uncertainty, long development timelines, and a highly scientific environment. You will develop robust financial models that incorporate scenario planning, risk-adjusted outcomes, timeline assumptions, and investment trade-offs to support stage-gate decisions, manufacturing scale-up strategies, technology transfers, and capital investments.
Beyond core business partnering responsibilities, you will contribute to strategic initiatives such as biologics manufacturing strategy, cost of quality transparency, development governance, and the evaluation of AI-enabled quality and laboratory automation opportunities. You will be expected to actively leverage AI and digital tools in your own work to strengthen financial analysis, improve modelling efficiency, generate deeper insights, and support better decision-making across CMC and Quality.
Acting as a trusted sparring partner, you will help CMC and Quality leaders understand the financial implications of their decisions early and embed value, risk and compliance considerations into decision-making.
Your future team
You will join the PDS Finance team and operate at the heart of Lundbeck's CMC and Quality organization, partnering with senior leaders to support critical development, manufacturing, quality, and compliance decisions. While embedded in CMC and Quality decision-making, you will work within a highly collaborative network spanning R&D Finance, Procurement, project teams, and key external partners.
As the primary Finance Business Partner to the SVP of CMC and the SVP of Corporate Product Quality, you will have significant exposure to senior leadership and play an active role in shaping strategic discussions and investment decisions. You will work closely with CMC focus teams, development project teams, and Procurement colleagues, particularly on CDMO-related activities and development sourcing decisions, ensuring financial considerations are integrated into key business choices.
The role reports to the PDS Finance Director and offers a unique opportunity to influence decision-making across the product development value chain while building strong partnerships across scientific, operational, quality, and finance functions.
The position is based in Valby, Denmark.
What you bring to the team
You are a finance professional who is comfortable working in scientific, regulated and high-uncertainty environments. You enjoy translating complexity into clear financial logic and thrive when partnering with stakeholders across both finance and technical functions.
You likely bring:
- 10+ years of experience from finance business partnering, financial planning, project finance, R&D finance, manufacturing finance or a related area
- Strong financial modelling skills, including scenario modelling, risk-adjusted analysis and decision support under uncertainty
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and translating complex business choices into clear financial implications
- Ability to support investment decisions, stage-gate governance and long-term development or manufacturing strategies
- Curiosity and a proactive interest in applying AI and digital tools to improve financial insight, decision-making and ways of working
- Experience from pharma, biotech, life sciences, manufacturing, quality or another regulated environment is an advantage
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
As a person, you are structured, curious and confident working with ambiguity. You are a strong communicator who can bridge scientific and financial audiences, and you are motivated by helping the business make better decisions where value, risk and compliance all matter.
