Graduate CMC Biologics

Are you looking for the next step to kick-start your transition from being a student to becoming a young professional within CMC Biologics? Then join our Lundbeck Graduate Program 2021.

Lundbeck offers a great workplace with a flat structure and a collaborative working environment based on respect and equality. We employ dedicated colleagues and encourage continuous development. Together, we create the ideal conditions for you and your job, so we can create better conditions for patients.

As part of your two-year graduate journey at Lundbeck you will be exposed to various parts of the business and encounter exciting challenges across the company. The learning curve will be steep, and we expect a lot from you, but in return we offer a program that will empower you to grow both on a professional and personal level.

Biologics Production in Lundbeck

Biologics Production consists of 7 highly experienced colleagues located in Lundbeck Headquarters in Copenhagen or Lundbeck Seattle Biopharmaceuticals (Lu-SBP). Though Biologics Production spans two continents, the structure is efficient and decision pathways are short. Biologics Production is part of CMC Biologics, an organization responsible for development, manufacturing and quality aspects of candidates progressing into and through different phases of clinical development including the commercial phase. CMC Biologics is a global unit with approximately 100 employees split between Lundbeck Headquarters in Copenhagen and Lundbeck Seattle Biopharmaceuticals and working with global CMO’s. Our CMC Biologics organization is built on three strong pillars: A Center of Excellence for Process Development, Biologics Late stage Development & Production, and Project & CMO Management CMC Biologics. Combined they are responsible for progressing all Biologics-based development candidates through development stages (cell line, upstream, downstream and analytical), manufacturing, release and characterization. Many of these activities are out-sourced to Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMO’s) and Contract Research Organizations (CRO’s) and thus performed in collaboration with numerous companies with a global presence. The development projects typically operate in a matrix organization, structured around cross-departmental Focus Teams with representation from all disciplines in the division. You will become part of these energetic teams and work in an exciting international, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.

Your job and the journey

Your will begin your graduate journey in Biologics Production, who are responsible for supporting all biological based manufacturing of commercial products to meet the requirements of the Global Supply Chain organization and markets. In Biologics Production you will work in close collaboration with colleagues from other functional areas of CMC Biologics, i.e. Process validation, Late Stage development, Center of excellence for Process Development, and Project & CMO management. Furthermore, you will collaborate with other areas of the Lundbeck organization, including Research, Non-clinical Safety Research, Clinical Development, Medical & Regulatory Science, and R&D Project and Business Management. As the Biologics Production and the Global Supply Chain organization are situated both in Denmark and the US, travel days for meetings and staying for up to 6-8 months in US offices (Seattle, Washington and Deerfield, Illinois) will be required by the Graduate. Lundbeck are aware of COVID-19 restrictions and will take appropriate measures into consideration and change travel plans if required.

You will collaborate with highly specialized colleagues around various aspects of Biologics production and be involved in e.g.:

  • Manufacturing schedule management and sales forecasts planning
  • Provide technical input to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and be involved in securing contracts on a continuous basis
  • Oversight of manufacturing for commercial Biologics Production
  • Oversight of manufacturing and plant-visits in person as needed
  • Continued process verification for commercial Biologics Production
  • End-to-end technical oversight of the manufacturing processes at all stages of the product’s commercial lifecycle
  • Understanding of Annual Product Reviews and Product Quality Reviews in collaboration with QA
  • Contribute to continuous manufacturing process improvements

Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to work on two short-term assignments in the Global Supply Chain organization and in Finance. The assignments will help you to understand the link between biological production and the Global Supply Chain, resulting in an improved understanding of the value chain from production to the patient. During the program you will participate in a range of personal development activities designed to guide you and to make sure you are on track and able to unfold your potential. At the end of the Graduate Program, you will have gained broad experience within biologics based manufacturing of biological drugs.

Our preferred graduate has the following qualifications:

  • An interest in Biological Manufacturing and deep technical insight into bio-processing for biological manufacturing
  • Above average academic achievements and excellent English language skills

  • You actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels
