Maternity cover: Technician / Research assistant, Antibody Engineering – 12-month fixed term contract

Are you interested in protein expression in mammalian cells and eager to apply your skills to advance innovative treatments for brain diseases? If so, we invite you to be part of our Antibody Engineering team at Lundbeck!

Your new role

We are seeking a maternity cover for a laboratory technician with interest in mammalian protein expression to support development of antibody-based biotherapeutics.

Your primary responsibilities will be protein expression in standard HEK293 and CHO based transient platforms, at scales from small multi-well plates to shake flasks and 20L wave bioreactors.  Responsibilities also include cell maintenance, laboratory upkeep and documentation of work. You will work closely with other technicians and scientists to plan and perform experiments and interpret data. Additional assignments based on experience and aspirations could be in protein purification and characterization as well as in basic functional profiling of antibodies, e.g.  antigen binding.

The Antibody Engineering department is part of the Biotherapeutic Discovery organisation which is responsible for antibody discovery, production, engineering, and characterisation of antibody candidates for the biotherapeutic projects in Lundbeck’s R&D pipeline.

Your future team

Antibody Engineering and Biochemistry is an international team of 14 dedicated professionals, including scientists, research assistants, technicians and students committed to developing effective and innovative biotherapeutics for patients with brain disorders. As part of Lundbeck Global Research, we work closely together with our Neuroscience colleagues to select and optimize innovative antibody-based drugs for treatment of brain disease.

The position is based in Valby, Denmark, where we reside in state-of-the-art research facilities that sets a stimulating frame for our work and for Biotherapeutic Discovery as a team.

What you bring to the team

  • Education: Lab technician or Master’s degree in the Life Science field.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, ideally in protein expression using transient and/or stable transfections of mammalian cells (HEK293 and CHO).
  • Ability to work individually with a problem-solving attitude combined with a strong motivation for teamwork.
  • Enjoy working and collaborating in a multi-cultural team and communicating both orally and written in English.
  • Supplementary skills or experience of interest:
    • Basic molecular biology.
    • Protein purification and analytics.
    • Data management and tech savviness.
