Molecular Pharmacology Scientist – Department for Molecular Screening and Pharmacology



We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to join the Section for Receptors & Enzymes in the Department for Molecular Screening & Pharmacology. The Department is responsible for supporting Lundbeck’s drug discovery projects using state of art assay platforms. The techniques represented in the Department include various in vitro enzyme activity and radioligand binding assays, cell-based assays (GPCRs and ion channels) using both end-point and kinetic readouts, and a range of tip-based or acoustic liquid handlers. The Department currently consists of 9 academics and 4 technicians and is based at Lundbeck’s headquarters in Valby, Copenhagen.


Your job and key responsibilities

You will be part of a team providing molecular pharmacology and screening support for research projects aiming at identifying new drug candidates for psychiatric and neurological diseases. You will be responsible for planning and executing laboratory studies and you should expect that app 80% of your work will be lab-based generating and analyzing pharmacology data to support assay development, screening, and hit validation. The aim is to understand the structure-activity relationship and mechanism of action at the molecular target for new drug candidates. Much of the lab work will be based on advanced instrumentation and robotics for automation. You will work closely together with technicians and academics in the department and be involved in cross-functional project teams and CRO interactions.

Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional qualifications:

  • Master and PhD degree in molecular pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular cell biology or related areas.
  • Excellent receptor pharmacology understanding and high scientific standards.
  • In depth knowledge and experience working with GPCRs.
  • Experience with drug discovery and BRET assays is an advantage.
  • Genuine interest in laboratory work.
  • Flair for handling advanced instrumentation and robotics required.
  • Efficient and goal oriented work style with flexible mind-set.
  • Team player with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
