Operational Excellence Specialist – Pharmaceutical Production
Join our community of specialists and take part in the journey of restoring brain health
Do you want to be part of an organization with a strong purpose and an ambitious mindset?
If you are passionate about Operational Excellence, LEAN & Six Sigma, and process optimization, have strong data and analytical skills and an ambition to develop yourself within continuous improvement in a pharmaceutical environment, this job is a great opportunity for you.
With approximately 430 people across two manufacturing sites in Denmark and France, Pharmaceutical Production is responsible for the manufacturing and packaging of Lundbeck’s commercial products worldwide. Based at our headquarters in Valby, Denmark, you will join a team of highly skilled specialists and project managers working on the introduction, support, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and processes.
Your new role
As an Operational Excellence Specialist, you will play an important role in strengthening our manufacturing and supply processes, with the goal of improving reliability, cost efficiency, and quality. You will be involved in selecting, managing, and executing a portfolio of improvement activities across the Pharmaceutical Production area, working closely with leaders and operational teams to deliver results.
Some of your key responsibilities will be to facilitate LEAN workshops, provide active coaching, and deliver formal training to colleagues based on your LEAN expertise. You will facilitate Kaizen events, conduct root cause analyses of complex problems, and lead process mapping sessions. You will have a central role in executing performance diagnostics in collaboration with operational teams, converting data insights into root cause identification and actionable improvements.
You will be a key driver in promoting our continuous improvement culture—supporting leadership and operational teams to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen systematic problem-solving capabilities—while coordinating and following up on the execution of various projects and activities. These activities vary in scope and complexity and often involve a high number of participants from different parts of the organization. Therefore, strong stakeholder management skills will be key to your success in the role.
Your future team
You will join an experienced team with a proven history of delivering successful breakthrough improvement projects, combining process expertise with data insights, business intelligence, and LEAN-Six Sigma toolbox. We aim to create the ideal conditions for you to perform and continuously develop in your role, so that together we can create better outcomes for patients.
Lundbeck offers a great workplace with a flat organizational structure and a collaborative working environment based on respect and equality.
What you bring to the team
We expect you to have the following professional and personal qualifications:
- Relevant education, such as an M.Sc. in Engineering, Manufacturing or Supply Chain Management, or a similar field, with at least four years of relevant work experience for the role.
- Ability to understand complex problems, analyze data from different sources, and translate insights into workable solutions.
- Broad experience with LEAN methodology is essential. Skilled in building visual management and PDCA systems, systematic problem-solving skills, VSM and SMED methods.
- Experience with DMAIC methodology is an advantage, or at least an interest in developing within Six Sigma.
- Experience as a coach and formal trainer within CI tools and techniques.
- Experience working with data and perform complex analyses to drive decision making. Advanced use of Excel and Power BI are advantages.
- Understanding of manufacturing or supply chain processes—and, more importantly, curiosity and a drive to continuously improve and develop.
- A structured and disciplined working style, maintaining both quality and productivity.
- The ability to thrive in a challenging yet exciting environment, achieving ambitious goals with enthusiasm.
- Strong team spirit, with an open, proactive, and communicative approach.
- Comfort in working independently with a large number of stakeholders and thriving in a role with broad organizational exposure.
As some activities involve our international sites and suppliers, we expect you to be fluent in both written and spoken English. Proficiency in Danish or French will be considered an advantage but is not a requirement.
