Scientist for ADME studies in the Department of Drug Metabolism

In the Department of Drug Metabolism, we are looking for a Scientist for ADME studies. The Department of Drug Metabolism is part of the Drug ADME Research Division within Non-Clinical Safety Research. Non-Clinical Safety Research is responsible for the safety evaluation of novel drug candidates for the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders. The Department of Drug Metabolism is responsible for providing non-clinical and human ADME data, and data on drug-drug interaction potential for worldwide registration of NCEs. We have at present 12 full-time positions, divided in two groups (Drug-drug interaction and Metabolism). The position is based in Lundbeck´s Headquarter, Copenhagen.


Your job and key responsibilities

You will be responsible for planning, executing and reporting in vitro and in vivo ADME studies, including metabolite profiling and metabolite identification studies in both animal species and human. As an important part of your role, you will be responsible for studies executed in our in-house laboratories guiding and sparring with technicians. The techniques used are state of the art LC-MS (including OrbiTrap and MALDI-imaging instruments) and radiochemical detection. You will also be responsible for evaluating, in close collaboration with our Bioanalytical Department, whether human metabolites have been adequately safety tested in the animal species. Another part of your work will be a close collaboration with Contract Research Organisations (CRO’s), who are performing studies on behalf of the Metabolism group. You will also be involved in project teams, holding the primary responsibility to drive the project forward with focus on the Department of Drug Metabolism / Non-Clinical Safety Research area and as part of the project team progress our development projects according to agreed project plans. Furthermore, we expect you to be driving the science within the Group together with your colleagues.

Our preferred candidate


  • Holds a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, chemical engineering or equivalent.
  • Has solid knowledge within and understanding of organic chemistry and capability to combine this with biochemical reactions/enzymatic catalyzed reactions.
  • Has hands on experience with, sample preparation, LC-MS techniques, radiochemical detection, metabolite profiling and metabolite identification.
  • Experience with analysis of peptides and oligonucleotides is an advantage.
  • Experience within GLP/GCP is an advantage.
  • Has focus on delivering high quality data in due time and are result oriented.
  • Is enthusiastic, ambitious, proactive and a true team player.
  • Has good communication skills and is fluent in English.
