Research scientist

We are looking for a talented and ambitious drug discovery research scientist with experience in immunology and immune cell signalling to join our efforts in developing and inventing novel drugs against migraine and neurodegenerative and other debilitating disorders

Global Research is at the foundation of this and operates with a focus on four biological clusters; Synapse Biology and Neuronal Circuits - Hormonal and Neuropeptide Signalling - Neuroinflammation - Proteinopathy.


The position

With an offset in the biological cluster Neuroinflammation you will use your laboratory experience to establish models and assays for pharmacological interrogation of immune function of cells and tissue. You will work in project teams and contribute with the data that you generate in the laboratory and you will help identify and validate new and existing drug targets.


As a research scientist, you will be working broadly across the Neuroscience organization in close collaboration with other academics and technicians to generate experimental data in our projects. You will help guide projects and you will continuously seek to extend and further develop our scientific understanding and experimental platforms in the Neuroinflammation cluster.


The position will be based in Neuroscience, Department of Signal Transduction. The overall focus in the department is on molecular and cellular mechanisms and on target identification and validation for therapeutic mechanisms of brain disorders. Experimentally, we focus on generating pharmacological data from functional in vitro assays, primary cells and tissue from animals. We cover a broad range of molecular and cellular technologies and are now looking to expand our experimental capabilities to also cover interrogation of the immune system.


Key responsibilities

  • Engage in cross-functional project teams and drive fast and decisive project progression
  • Conduct target and pharmacology mechanistic studies related to immune function
  • Direct internal studies as well as studies with external academic and industry partners
  • Articulate and test scientific hypothesis linking target signalling to mechanisms to therapeutic benefit of molecules.
  • Engage with scientific peers internally and externally
  • Be pro-active in bringing new targets, technologies and other initiatives forward
  • Write scientific reports to support regulatory filings



Our preferred candidate has the following professional and personal qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant life science discipline with post-doctoral work on immune cell signalling (adaptive and innate)
  • 3+ years of pharmaceutical related research (industry or academia)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skillset (advanced computational skills is considered a plus)
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills
  • Strong communicator in English, written and orally
  • Experience with cross functional collaborations
  • Experience with leading teams is an advantage
  • A positive and constructive attitude in the face of challenges
