Senior Manager, Data Engineering, Enterprise Data, Enterprise Digital Enablement

Lundbeck is on a clear journey to become a bionic company—where data, AI, and digital capabilities are embedded in how we make decisions, move faster, and create value.

Enterprise Data plays a strategic enablement role in this journey. We don’t own business outcomes—we enable them by building strong, scalable data foundations, accelerating insight, and working closely with our business partners across the organization.

We are now looking for a Senior Manager, Data Engineering to lead our data engineering team and help turn enterprise data into real, usable value at scale.

Our core data stack centers on Snowflake and dbt, with Python and SQL as the primary development languages, and operates as part of a broader hybrid data platform that also includes Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and SAP Datasphere.

Your new role

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys combining people leadership, technical depth, and stakeholder impact.

You will lead a team of five data engineers and act as a playing coach—setting direction, shaping architecture, reviewing designs, and stepping in hands-on when it matters. You will work closely with BI specialists, business partners, platform teams, and fellow data and analytics leaders to enable scalable source data products and consumer-ready data products that power analytics, BI, and data activation across Lundbeck.

At its core, this role is about enablement: helping teams move faster, building capabilities that scale, and ensuring data engineering is a catalyst—not a bottleneck.

As Senior Manager, Data Engineering, you will:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing data engineering team, combining strong people leadership with hands-on technical credibility
  • Set direction for data engineering practices and data products, ensuring reliability, quality, and long-term sustainability
  • Partner closely with BI specialists and business stakeholders to translate needs into trusted, usable data
  • Drive clarity and prioritization through a shared impact mindset, guiding trade-offs and focusing on what creates the most value.

Your future team

You will report to the Head of Data Activation and become a key part of Enterprise Data within Enterprise Digital Enablement. The department brings together Data Engineering, BI, and Data & BI adoption capabilities and is positioned as a strategic enabler—guiding and accelerating how data creates value across Lundbeck.

We collaborate closely with the Enterprise Data Platform team to ensure strong alignment between platforms, engineering practices, and business needs. Together, we focus on building reliable, scalable foundations—centered on Snowflake and dbt, as part of a broader hybrid platform tightly integrated with SAP Datasphere.

You’ll join a team that values trust, curiosity, adaptability, and accountability—and that takes pride in enabling others to succeed. Leadership is hands-on, collaboration is real, and impact matters more than hierarchy.

The position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

What you bring to the team

You are an experienced data leader who thrives in enablement roles. You enjoy building capabilities that allow others to succeed, and you are comfortable leading people, shaping direction, and engaging in architectural discussions.

You navigate complex stakeholder landscapes with confidence and pragmatism, and you believe great data engineering is about value, usability, and adoption—not just pipelines.

Key qualifications:

  • Experience leading data engineering teams in complex, enterprise environments
  • A strong hands-on foundation in modern data engineering and cloud data platforms
  • The ability to partner effectively with BI and business stakeholders
  • A pragmatic mindset—applying standards where they add value and flexibility where they accelerate impact
  • A genuine interest in building sustainable capabilities, not just delivering one-off solutions
