Data Engineering Senior Specialist, Enterprise Data, Enterprise Digital Enablement

Requisition ID:  7567
Location:

Copenhagen, Danish Capital Region, DK

Data Engineering Senior Specialist, Enterprise Data, Enterprise Digital Enablement

Lundbeck is on a clear journey to become a bionic company—where data, AI, and digital capabilities are embedded in how we make decisions, accelerate execution, and create meaningful value.

Enterprise Data plays a strategic enablement role in this journey. We don’t own business outcomes—we enable them by building scalable data foundations, accelerating insight generation, and partnering closely with teams across the organization.

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineering Specialist to lead the design and delivery of trusted, reusable data products that power Lundbeck’s most critical BI and AI use cases.

Our core data stack is built on Snowflake and dbt, with SQL and Python as primary development languages, and is part of a broader ecosystem including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and SAP BW/Datasphere.

Your new role

As a Senior Data Engineering Specialist, you will take a leading role in shaping how we design, build, and scale data products across the enterprise.

You will combine deep technical expertise with strong architectural thinking and a pragmatic approach to enablement—ensuring that data is not only available, but trusted, reusable, and impactful.

You will work closely with local data teams, BI specialists, business stakeholders, and platform teams to define standards, guide implementations, and deliver high-quality, source-aligned data products and consumer-ready datasets.

This is a role for someone who doesn’t just build pipelines—but defines patterns, raises the bar for engineering practices, and enables others to succeed.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and own scalable data pipelines and transformations using dbt, Snowflake, SQL, and Python

  • Lead the development of robust, reusable data models that support BI, analytics, and advanced data use cases

  • Drive engineering excellence by defining and promoting best practices across testing, documentation, lineage, versioning, and observability

  • Shape data product architecture and contribute to key design decisions across the data landscape

  • Act as a technical sparring partner and mentor for local data teams—accelerating adoption of the data platform through coaching and hands-on guidance

  • Translate complex business needs into scalable data solutions, partnering closely with BI specialists and stakeholders

  • Collaborate with platform teams to ensure alignment between data engineering practices and platform capabilities

  • Continuously improve ways of working, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, reliability, and reuse across teams

Your future team

You will report to the Head of Data Activation and become a key part of Enterprise Data within Enterprise Digital Enablement. The department brings together Data Engineering, BI, and Data & BI adoption capabilities and acts as a strategic enabler—guiding and accelerating how data creates value across Lundbeck.

You will join a data engineering team focused on enablement at scale: building strong foundations, reusable patterns, and shared capabilities that help the organization move faster—without compromising quality or trust.

You will work closely with the Enterprise Data Platform team in a collaborative, pragmatic environment where impact matters more than hierarchy, and where seniority is reflected through influence and contribution.

The position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

What you bring to the team

You are a highly experienced data engineer who combines strong technical skills with architectural thinking and a passion for enabling others. You take ownership beyond your own deliverables and actively raise the bar for how data engineering is practiced across teams.

What success looks like:

  • Extensive experience as a data engineer or similar role in a complex, enterprise environment, with end-to-end responsibility for designing and delivering scalable data solutions

  • Strong expertise in modern data stacks, ideally including dbt and Snowflake (or similar), with advanced SQL skills and solid Python experience

  • Proven ability to design scalable data models and architectures, balancing best practices with real-world constraints

  • Deep understanding of engineering excellence, including testing strategies, CI/CD, version control, documentation, and maintainability

  • Experience influencing technical direction and guiding others, through mentoring, code reviews, or informal leadership

  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business needs into practical, high-quality data products

  • A pragmatic mindset, knowing when to standardize and when to optimize for speed and flexibility

  • Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, or cloud platform operations is a plus
