Student Assistant - Research and Development (R&D) Finance 

Do you want to work in the intersection of Finance and R&D in Pharma, then you might be just what we’re looking for! We are seeking a student who can help with various tasks in Lundbeck’s R&D Finance team, to help support the R&D projects as well as other ad-hoc priorities.

 

 

Your new role

 

The student assistant will work 10-20 hours (to be aligned with the line manager) in the Valby office. You will work with a high degree of ownership and with exposure to various stakeholders across the R&D organization, but also the ability to shape your own tasks over time.

 

Some of the tasks that you would be expected to cover are:

 

  • You be part of reviewing, creating, and optimizing excel based reports, and make them more user-friendly, more efficient, or more functional (e.g., with VBA, Pivot Tables, layout, etc).

  • In relation to budget and quarterly estimates, you assist work with various financial and project management systems, with data gathering, formatting and validation. This is a great opportunity to learn the systems used in this area.

  • You support with month close activities such as forecast updates and accruals.

  • You provide ad-hoc support that require data handling, validation, and analysis.

  • You deliver on-demand support for initiatives related to Lundbeck’s finance strategy and can participate in projects based on your skills and interests.

  • You will have the opportunity to be part of, and see how R&D investments are analyzed, decided, planned, and tracked in pharmaceutical R&D. Our group covers the entire life of a new molecule, from research to launch, including any additional studies post commercialization.

 

You will also have the opportunity to join Lundbeck’s growing community of current and former student assistants for social gatherings and networking both during and outside office hours.

 

 

Your future team

 

Group Finance at Lundbeck is located in Valby and is ca. 50 employees in total, of which 8-9 support Research and Development around three main tasks: financials around new projects/pipeline projects, project valuation/investment decision support, and controlling of capacity/fixed cost - you will join the project finance team of team 4-5 people. The team takes pride in a workplace characterized by high performance, collaboration, and a close-knit informal atmosphere to help make Lundbeck #1 in brain health.

 

  • You will report to the head of Project Finance in R&D Finance, to support them in their work towards the senior management stakeholders both in R&D and Group Finance.

  • We are flexible and understanding of your commitments to your study and you will be able to coordinate your working hours with your manager.

The position is based in Valby, Denmark, with the expectation that you are physically present at the office, with some ability to work remotely.

 

 

What you bring to the team

 

Do you have the following skills and qualifications, then you might be just what we are looking for:

 

  • Studying BSc/MSc within Business, Data Science, Economics, Innovation Management, Engineering or similar and you have at least 2 years left.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and ability to structure and solve problems on your own, and drive project-based initiatives to completion.

  • Open-minded and positive attitude to be able to work with different stakeholders.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Package, - and strong skills in Excel with e.g., VBA, Pivot tables, etc., is valuable but not required.

  • An interest in learning more about pharmaceuticals/biotech and Healthcare, in particular as related to R&D. Background knowledge or previous experience a plus.

  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
