The Associate Director, Payer Analytics directs and oversees Lundbeck’s payer analytics function in providing insights and recommendations to the Market Access and Brand marketing teams to drive performance.  The Associate Director provides analytical thought leadership, influences managed markets and brand strategy, and builds payer business acumen across the organization.  The Associate Director is experienced in areas such as contracting, co-pay assessment, and rebate modeling.  This individual is the main liaison with the Market Access marketing team on behalf of the Business Insights team.  The Associate Director works in a consultative fashion cross-functionally to develop a holistic understanding of brand payer performance and manages the overall payer analytics plan.


Provide Analytical Thought Leadership

  • Develops framework and leads efforts for reporting across various payer segments and plans
  • Establishes best practices and provides thought leadership regarding:
  • Modeling expected payer response to various contract terms/formulary placement, and tracking post-deal account level performance, including ROI assessment
  • Modeling and tracking effectiveness of co-pay offset programs, including the design of pilot programs prior to nationwide launch
  • Developing advanced analytical tools/ techniques and procedures to accurately assess account performance and contract efficiency, including the development of plan-specific sales and volume targets
  • Guides the management of an integrated payer database in collaboration with Business Technology
  • Leads cross-functional marketing analytics projects, including payer segmentation, physician segmentation, and targeting


Influence managed markets strategy

  • Leads the integration of payer insights with brand insights to create a holistic story for the Market Access and Brand marketing teams on how to effectively drive business
  • Ensures strong stakeholder management with Market Access, driving collaboration and customer-centric approach in partnering with the Market Access team
  • Develops and prioritizes short and long term Payer Analytics plan and deliverables.  Ensures alignment with Market Access
  • Incorporates strong business acumen, drives proactive communication, and ensures the team meets all key milestones
  • Assists Market Access and Brand marketing teams in shaping payer strategy;  participates in making key payer decisions with Market Access and Brand marketing leadership
  • Serves as the primary payer analytics expert in payer strategy discussions with alliance partners
  • Identifies the impact of changes in healthcare delivery, reimbursement, and policy landscape and shares with organization


Build Payer Business Acumen

  • Builds a Lundbeck perspective on assessing the payer landscape for brand teams; creates an approach which drives consistency and a common language but holds flexibility to meet each brand’s unique needs
  • Leads development of training content to translate insights from business intelligence tools into action for field sales and account managers; consults with marketing, sales, and business effectiveness team members to develop metrics for identifying opportunities for improving geographic and/or account performance
  • Collaborates with sales analytics to identify and optimize sales force pull-through efforts, and incentive compensation design to help design the most optimal goal allocation approach



  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical marketing analytics experience, with at least 3 years of experience in payer analytics supporting pharmaceutical market access teams
  • Knowledge in managed markets analysis, contracting (Managed Care, Government, GPO, Medicare Part D and Long Term Care), and appropriate data assets to evaluate managed markets pull through
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical data (i.e. retail/ non retail, specialty pharmacy, payer, promotional & marketing data, longitudinal patient-level data, etc.)
  • High proficiency in SAS/R/etc. and MS Office (Excel/Access/PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in an environment with changing priorities and respond to business needs
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management with the ability to liaise and drive decision-making in dynamic situations
  • Demonstrated ability to move from analytics to business implications, and effectively present research data to key decision makers
  • Prior success leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to influence strategic decision making without direct authority



  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, or Statistics
  • Statistical training or statistical expertise.
  • Master’s degree in analytically-related area, or M.B.A.



  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 10% domestically
