SUMMARY:

The Director, Market Access Strategy and Operations, with particular focus on the launch of Vyepti, manages and collaborates with payer marketers across the broader portfolio to assist in the development and implementation of key payer strategies and initiatives.  This is to ensure proper focus on securing access for current and future Lundbeck products among commercial and government payers.  This role will also be responsible for helping facilitate clinical and economic strategies to enhance the efforts of the field-based Regional, National and Strategic Account Managers. The incumbent is responsible for elevating Lundbeck’s organizational understanding of Market Access working cross functionally with the members of Market Access, Neurology and Psychiatry business unit heads, marketing, sales, R&D, value evidence (HEOR), regulatory, legal, alliance partners, and agencies. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with others to advance ongoing workstreams including;

 

  • Value evidence
  • Market access value story playbook
  • Customer engagement
  • Analytics capabilities
  • Contracting and negotiations capabilities
  • Tracking and benchmarking
  • The role is also responsible for providing day to day operational leadership and oversight for Market Access strategic planning, operations, budget, training, and staff meetings. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitate the development and execution of U.S. Market Access strategies which includes identification of key market issues and opportunities, critical success factors and strategic imperatives, key tactical programs and payer product positioning and messaging.   Contribute strategic input to LCM, pipeline and business development assets.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with brand marketing, sales, R&D, value evidence (HEOR), market access payer marketing, contracting, and other departments to gain alignment around strategic approaches to support physician access for patients at the provider and payer level for Lundbeck promoted products.
  • Develops market access acumen of payer and Access Marketers, brand leadership, business unit heads, and any others cross functionally whose role requires Market Access knowledge.  
  • Instills medical benefit knowledge across the organization.
  • Collaborates with training to elevate the market access acumen of the field sales force
  • Provides guidance to supportable payer value propositions for promoted products in collaboration with brand management  and alliance partners.
  • Helps develop and monitors effective pull-through plans in collaboration with market access field team, sales leadership & management, and sales Account Managers.
  • Oversees development and execution of field reimbursement access materials while ensuring full compliance
  • Performs analysis using various data sources to illustrate effectiveness of programs and payer access for Lundbeck products
  • Provides insights to business development, commercial planning, marketing, and senior management on how the evolving market is impacting physician access and how payers may impact current and future Lundbeck products.
  • Monitor market access and pricing landscape along with the associated implications for Lundbeck
  • Partner cross-functionally to develop and maintain internal communication tools including business intelligence tools and dashboards that will be shared with the broader organization
  • Partner with and influence brand team members and alliance counterparts on payer and pricing strategies for the psychiatry portfolio and Lundbeck’s brand team members for the neurology portfolio including Lundbeck’s recently launched VYEPTI, a medical benefit product. 
  • Ensures continuity in payer and access marketing business planning, managing vendors, managing the relationship with data analytics colleagues, and overseeing the departmental budget.
  • Attract, develop and retain talent through effective leadership competencies

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree.
  • 15+ years in progressive sales, marketing or market access leadership experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry.
  • 5+ years of market access experience in a U.S. pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical organization.
  • Sound understanding of the payer channels and customer dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of physician access needs for medical and pharmacy benefit products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills required along with strong project/process management skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills; demonstrated ability to influence without direct management authority
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint (the general Microsoft Suite).

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

  • Deep experience in both the medical and pharmacy benefit markets.
  • Health policy and/or health economics experience/expertise.
  • Field reimbursement experience
  • Pharm.D., MBA, R. Ph. or Ph. D.

 

TRAVEL

  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 20% domestically.  International travel may be required.
