The purpose of the new Director of New Product Planning is to lead the US go-to-market innovation strategy in support of Lundbeck’s growth strategy, aligned to corporate business development initiatives, in support of our purpose: to be tirelessly dedicated to restoring brain health so every person can be their best.

Reporting to the Lundbeck US Vice President of Brand Management, the successful person in this role will deliver commercial assessments, input and strategic guidance to ensure innovative, differentiated products that meet unmet patient needs and gain broad market access for mid-late stage opportunities.




Leader of New Product Planning

  • Partner with global business development and US cross-functional teams to effectively assess internal pipeline and external asset opportunities for US launch
  • Secure in-depth knowledge of market size and opportunity, competitive overview and landscape, payer landscape, unmet needs, and ongoing competitive intelligence for the disease areas in scope
  • Identify key customers, KOLs and patient advocacy organizations, and meet with them, as needed, to help assess opportunities. Actively contribute to target product profile development for early stage R&D programs and asset evaluations.
  • Inform and guide market research to understand the opportunity size and market potential
  • Provide assessment of launch and in-market budget and promotion assumptions for opportunities to realize their potential
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand upsides and risks related to high-potential opportunities
  • Develop pre-market launch plans that prepare the market, the asset and shapes the organization


Leader of Strategic Partnerships

  • Establish and effectively collaborate with global business development, global marketing and other global functions and across US functions including Commercial, Medical and others
  • Partner closely with Global Product Teams in early projects and secure commercial input into key development decisions and milestones. Serve as primary US commercial liaison to global development teams, providing commercial input on pipeline projects.  


Leader of Cross-Functional US Teams

  • Develop and nurture strong working relationships with a broad range of medical, marketing, market access, finance and business development colleagues
  • Provides direction to matrix project teams. Establishes and prioritizes complex set of objectives. Sets metrics and key success indicators. Proactively identifies and removes obstacles.



  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive commercial/business management experience, including a minimum of 7 years marketing/brand management experience
  • Experience leading new product launches in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical field
  • This includes experience in a commercial organization collaborating with global teams.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proven success in developing clear, actionable steps aligned to overall business strategy
  • Collaborative team player with ability to build trusted partnerships, manage stakeholders and meet shared objectives.
  • Analytical with the ability to produce actionable strategic and innovative insights
  • Uses informed, sound judgment: makes timely, effective, educated and sound decisions, at times under conditions of uncertainty
  • Impactful oral and written communication skills with ability to persuade and influence others
  • Accepts clear responsibility and accountability for results



  • MBA
  • Relevant experience within pharma: (market access, business development, sales) as well as international experience
  • Experience in CNS and/or brain disease



  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 30%
