SUMMARY:

The Manager Commercial Operations is responsible for the operational oversight, governance and management of Lundbeck’s fleet and stipend programs while also providing operational leadership and oversight for pharmaceutical sample distribution activities. This role partners cross-functionally with Commercial Operations, Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Legal, IT and external vendors to ensure operational excellence, compliance and financial stewardship.

This position drives operational strategy, vendor performance, policy governance, process optimization, financial management, and continuous improvement initiatives across enterprise operational programs. The Manager will lead cross-functional initiatives, oversee key vendor partnerships, monitor operational performance metrics, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, cost management, and user experience.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Fleet Management

  • Lead all aspects of Lundbeck’s fleet operations, including vehicle lifecycle management, maintenance, fuel management, driver support, tax compliance, safety and accident management and replacement planning.
  • Oversee the company vehicle stipend program, including policy administration, eligibility management, reimbursement oversight, vendor coordination, and compliance with company guidelines.
  • Monitor fleet utilization, operational metrics and driver experience to identify opportunities for operational improvement, cost management and compliance optimization.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, including operational performance, service delivery, issue escalation, contract management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead vehicle selection activities and recommend fleet options that align with the company’s sustainability goals, safety standards, and business needs.
  • Plan and manage fleet budgets, expenditures, invoice reconciliation, and financial reporting activities.
  • Chair the Fleet Review Committee and provide recommendations regarding policy enhancements, process improvements and exception management.
  • Oversee collision management processes and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Establish and maintain fleet policies, SOPs, training materials, and governance processes to support compliant and consistent operational execution.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure effective onboarding and offboarding and support processes for field personnel receiving company vehicles.

 

Commercial Operations Support & Governance

  • Provide operational oversight and strategic support for sample operations through vendor coordination, operational monitoring, inventory oversight, compliance support activities, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, IT, field leadership, and external vendors to support compliant and efficient execution of Commercial Operations programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain operational metrics, dashboards, reporting, process documentation, and governance materials supporting organizational effectiveness and decision-making.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve controls, service levels, and efficiency across sample operations processes.
  • Audit operational processes, vendor performance, and compliance activities to ensure alignment with company policies, operational standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, field leadership, and external vendors to ensure responsive operational support and alignment with business objectives.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and operational best practices related to fleet management and pharmaceutical operations, providing recommendations to leadership.
  • Perform additional duties and strategic projects as assigned.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5+ years of experience in operational management, commercial operations, compliance, asset management, or related business functions. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading operational programs, vendor management activities, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and financial management skills, including budgeting, operational analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Experience developing operational metrics and leveraging data to drive decision-making and process improvement.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead complex operational initiatives, and operate independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across all organizational levels and with external vendors.
  • Experience supporting operational governance, compliance initiatives, and policy management activities.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:

  • Experience in fleet operations, sample management, or related operational functions within the pharmaceutical, medical device or healthcare industries.
  • Experience with fleet management systems and pharmaceutical sample distribution platforms. 
  • Experience managing complex vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
  • Experience supporting field-based commercial organizations.
  • Experience developing operational policies, governance frameworks, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Preferred experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech or healthcare industry.

 

TRAVEL:

  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 10% domestically.

 

The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s geographical location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $130,000 - $155,000 and eligibility for a 15% bonus target based on company and individual performance.
