Summary
The Sr. Director, U.S. Commercial Forecasting will partner closely with Business Unit leaders to provide data-driven revenue outlooks and risk scenarios. Additionally, they are responsible for developing and managing the short- and long-term commercial forecasts for the US market, ensuring alignment with both global and US strategies. This role will have a strategic focus on driving automation to assess sales potential, manage forecasting processes, and provide data-driven insights to support investment decisions. The Sr. Director provides strategic insight and forecasting expertise to support portfolio planning and investment decisions, understanding the intersection of the business and forecasting, informing key business decisions, based on facts and data, evolve value driver views of the brands, with a focus on driving impact. The Sr. director of commercial forecasting will leads the US Commercial forecasting team, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive forecasting, including demand, inventory, and Gross to Net (GTN) forecasts. This role will also support aspects of pipeline products and work in collaboration with the BD team and advanced analytics teams.
Essential Functions
Strategic Business Partnering with an enterprise lens:
- Provide strategic financial insights and scenario analysis to inform key business decisions.
- Evolve value driver view of the brands – what drives growth, and how do we impact.
- Build strong relationships with US, global, and alliance partners to ensure alignment, understanding, and collaboration.
- Present US commercial forecasts and scenario analyses to the US and Global Leadership team, clearly articulating assumptions, risks, and potential business implications.
- Assist in quarterly analysis on revenue progression for internal and external audiences for investor call preparation, working with US & global teams to provide answers to US revenue questions (e.g. drivers of growth vs prior years and quarters).
- Inform US leadership on key investment decisions based on revenue impact, working closely with analytics and marketing for a comprehensive understanding of portfolio options.
- Driving discussions and perspectives towards HQ in a collaborative way with a strong emphasis on story telling.
- Partner with the Incentive Compensation team to help manage, drive, and develop forecasts that challenge the business and drive impact for the organization.
- Serves as strategic advisor to BU heads on revenue outlook and risk scenarios.
Automation & Systems
- Drive continuous improvement of forecasting systems and automation capabilities in partnership with Finance and Analytics.
- Lead initiatives to enhance automation and efficiency within forecasting processes.
- Ensure all operational components of the monthly process are fully automated.
- Automated access to analysis and answer Q&A from business.
- Supports advancement of forecasting capabilities through improved tools, automation, and analytics.
Forecast Development and Management:
- Leads the evolution and application of forecasting methodologies in alignment with global standards and best practices.
- Supports development of long-range forecasting frameworks aligned with portfolio strategy.
- Develop and manage the US revenue forecasts, ensuring clear communication and alignment with global and US strategies. Including scenarios to capture range of potential outcomes.
- Utilize appropriate forecasting methodologies for product lifecycle scenarios in both short-term and long-term forecasting cycles. Including Patient flow modeling, analog analysis for key metrics, assisting market research with demand studies and interpretation for forecast, and competitor impact analysis.
- Collaborate with marketing, analytics, and market access teams to gather key inputs for the forecast.
- Lead discussions with trade teams to understand purchasing patterns and reduce inventory fluctuation impacts on forecasts. Explain inventory fluctuations vs forecast to US and global teams.
- Provide comprehensive understanding of drivers vs. forecast, including accelerators and decelerators that may impact revenue potential.
- Leads and develops a high performing US Commercial forecasting team.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- Accredited Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in forecasting, finance or analytics.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Experience leading forecasting for product launches and or lifecycle management in competitive markets.
- Prior people leadership experience with direct reports.
- Strong Preference to be based in Deerfield, IL Office
Travel
- Willingness/Ability to travel up to 10% domestically. International travel may be required.
- If based remotely, additional travel will be required to Deerfield, IL, to meet the needs of the role and the business
The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s geographical location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $250,000 - $280,000 and eligibility for a 30% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company’s long-term incentive plan.
