Senior Director Sales Force Effectiveness

This position leads the Sales Force Effectiveness (SFE) function for all Lundbeck US and some aspects of Lundbeck Canada.  This role provides strategic direction and oversight of several teams including: Sales Planning & Execution, BI Reporting & Governance and Fleet Management.  This position will work as an integral member of both the sales management and US headquarters leadership teams, providing valuable support and insights along with working and coordinating with Lundbeck’s alliance partners. 



  • Oversees leaders and individual contributors who manage the sales planning and execution and help desk support team, business intelligence & governance team and the vehicle management program
  • Partners with commercial leadership to understand both short and long-term sales force resourcing needs and develops strategies and plans to address those needs
  • Sets strategic direction to ensure Lundbeck’s sales force effectiveness deliverables are well designed, efficiently run and remain compliant with operating procedures
  • Drives thought leadership around the Customer Engagement model by staying informed of ongoing industry research. Benchmarks where Lundbeck US stands vs key competitors and drives change in the organization
  • Liaises cross-functionally with Business Effectiveness leaders and key stakeholders to develop strategies to address the changing needs of our customers
  • Partners with sales leadership to ensure that SFE deliverables to the field are aligned with and help drive the behaviors expected to maximize sales force effectiveness
  • Stays abreast of industry best practices related to sales force planning, analytics and implementation and brings forth solutions to keep advancing Lundbeck’s sales force effectiveness offerings
  • Maintains solid relationships with global Customer Engagement and IT teams to ensure solutions are designed leveraging global platforms and creating synergies where possible
  • Maintains strategic partnerships with vendors and implementation partners to develop long-term strategies and sustainable implementation approaches
  • Coaches and develops employees on the SFE team for career growth, succession and retention of talent
  • Leads organizational-wide initiatives related to Sales Force design in collaboration with cross-functional partners
  • Responsible for budget management and results

  • Accredited Bachelor’s Degree
  • 12+ progressive experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device or healthcare industry 
  • 6+ experience in a Sales Planning/Analytics function
  • Prior people leadership or project oversight experience
  • Strong budgeting, operational and project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience analyzing pharmaceutical data to drive business decisions
  • Familiarity with Digital initiatives in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience working with cross functional partnerships

  • Master’s Degree / MBA
  • Experience leading sales planning & analytics functions (IC, call planning, targeting, alignment, incentive compensation).
  • Experience with sales/marketing analytics
  • 5+ years direct people management experience
  • Experience designing, implementing, managing and communicating sales incentive, call planning and territory design programs
  • Fleet program management
  • Background in pharmaceutical sales



  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 20% domestically. International travel may be required.
