Position Summary:

Lead public relations/product communications programming for select Lundbeck brands, developing communications strategies for milestones, brand awareness campaigns and engaging key external influencers in order to drive results. In addition, serve as point person for managing key public relations issues related to Lundbeck U.S., and work closely with Lundbeck U.S. Patient Advocacy team to provide support for initiatives in partnership with the patient advocacy community.


Essential Functions:

  • Lead public relations programs for multiple brands to strategically support marketing objectives and deliver results that impact business objectives. Keep abreast of new developments and ideas in the field of public relations to ensure strategic programming is fresh and creative.
  • Maximize brand news, including regulatory milestones and data publications/presentations, and implement strategies to elevate brands throughout the year outside of major news events; develop a media relations strategy for brands, seeking high-level placements across traditional and social media.
  • Oversee development of creative content, such as press releases, infographics, videos and other shareable assets for external and internal use; shepherd materials through internal legal, regulatory and medical review.
  • Implement disease awareness campaigns, influence positive action, and engage as appropriate with patient communities, including third-party groups, influencers, individual patients and caregivers.
  • Collaborate with Patient Advocacy team to determine engagement and communications strategies for existing patient group initiatives; brainstorm opportunities to further partner with the patient advocacy community and lead communications in support of partnership initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with media; serve as company spokesperson for multiple brands.
  • Integrate social media to drive brand PR programming via social channels; work closely with Social Media Manager on social strategy and execution.
  • Manage external PR agencies to develop strategy and execute tactical plans across multiple projects.
  • Lead the ongoing management of Lundbeck US’s overall issues management strategy, planning and response.
  • Coordinating across key functions and with headquarters, ensure potential threats that emerge through social or traditional media are effectively addressed with minimal impact on Lundbeck’s reputation.  Develop supporting communications materials and gain medical, legal and regulatory approval on materials, as appropriate.


Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of public relations and/or communications experience
  • 3+ years of Healthcare/Pharmaceuticals experience
  • Experience acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in responding to media inquiries
  • Professionally mature with sound judgment and an ability to understand the business and interact effectively from top of bottom and with numerous and complex project teams
  • Strong relationship building, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Exceptional written (drafting and editing) and verbal communications skills; can sensitively adapt communications to specific audiences – in tone and content
  • Proven expertise handling crises/issues real time, either for clients or corporations
  • Self-starter with strong sense of initiative, focused on results; able to work well as a member of an integrated, cross-functional team, but can also work independently with limited oversight
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel)


Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, or Journalism
  • Experience managing functional budgets and hitting performance goals
  • In-house experience at a pharmaceutical company or other corporate environment
  • Experience interacting with internal and external partners, including experience identifying strategic opportunities for patient group engagement grounded in business goals and priorities
  • Strong relationships with both local and national business and industry media outlets
  • Experience managing or writing content for social properties, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn



  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 10% domestically. International travel may be required on rare occasion
