SUMMARY

The Senior Manager evaluates the implications of channel dynamics across the payer and distribution channels, evaluates contracting opportunities and identifies value-creating opportunities for Lundbeck’s portfolio.  Accountable to the Lundbeck team for being a subject matter expert on market access value drivers, distribution, and contracting.  The Senior Manager, in partnership with other key stakeholders, is responsible for writing and negotiating contracting language, identifying, evaluating, and supporting traditional, and creative innovative pricing approaches.  Responsible for analyzing adherence to contract requirements, contract performance, deal/no deal scenarios, assessing fair market value, and ad hoc analysis.  Provide frequent analytic as well as strategic support to the market access functions, working closely with finance, accounting, government affairs, marketing, sales, and legal.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In collaboration with internal and field-based Market Access team members, facilitates internal and external execution of payer, specialty pharmacy, wholesaler, specialty distribution, GPOs and direct purchase agreements
  • Performs ad hoc financial modeling in support of Market Access leadership
  • Develop contract proposals (financial models, GTN implications, and ROI analysis for evaluation)
  • Responsible for payer, clinic, and hospital contracting analytics in partnership with Business Effectiveness
  • Provide insights to the business to help improve forecasting, pricing, and contracting decisions
  • Monitors contract compliance and performance including inventory carrying levels of distribution partners to ensure the contractual obligations are being met and forecasting is accurate; raises issues with customer leads
  • In collaboration with legal, develop compliant, consistent and timely contracts to support business objectives
  • Lead the continued development and implementation of analytic modeling tools, processes, databases, information sources, tracking mechanisms, KPIs, templates and analytic platforms; ensure established processes are followed
  • Establish and maintain strong collaboration and internal stakeholder management with Legal, finance, accounting, operations, payer field team, payer marketing, brand lead, and government affairs
  • Partner with accounting to measure success of contracts and evaluate and communicate contract performance to internal stakeholders; assist in tracking and reporting of ASP and implications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of work experience 
  • 4+ years in experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare industry or consulting supporting healthcare clients
  • 3+ years experience in financial modeling 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills – with exceptional aptitude for learning quickly and ability to communicate technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to network across a broad internal and external matrix organization and the skills necessary to form strong, productive partnerships and build consensus and acumen
  • Working knowledge of payer (pharmacy and medical) and distribution channels (commercial, government, SP, GPOs, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in Trade and Distribution and/or relevant payer function
  • Experience modeling payer scenarios and/or government policy changes
  • Direct experience writing and executing Contracting

 

TRAVEL

  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 10%.  International travel may be required.

 

The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $110,000 - $145,000 and eligibility for a 15% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company's long-term incentive plan.
