SUMMARY:
The Sr. Manager, Internal Communications is responsible for developing and executing strategies that engage employees, strengthen culture, and align teams with business priorities. This role partners with senior commercial business leaders and cross-functional groups to deliver clear, compelling content across internal channels and events, while tailoring communications to effectively reach the sales force. The Sr. Manager will leverage digital platforms and AI tools to enhance efficiency and impact, oversee messaging for change initiatives, and measure results to continuously improve communications that keep employees informed, inspired, and connected to the company’s mission. In addition, this individual will act as a trusted advisor on communication best practices, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment across the commercial organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement internal communications strategies and plans aligned with Lundbeck’s goals, values, and culture.
- Act as a strategic communications advisor to senior leadership on messaging, timing, and channels.
- Develop and execute internal communications plans and messaging tailored for key audiences, including multi-layered field sales teams.
- Translate complex, technical, or regulatory information into clear, compelling, audience-appropriate messaging.
- Create sales-force-facing content that is informative, motivating, accurate, easy to use, and aligned with commercial strategy.
- Manage existing internal communications platforms (intranet, internal social network, email, live/virtual forums) and explore new channels to enhance reach and engagement.
- Lead and execute communication strategy and plan development for organizational change (e.g., restructuring, business transformation, sales force re-alignment).
- Design and execute communications for commercial sales teams including, product launch communications plans, field messaging and incentive communications.
- Drive initiatives that reinforce company purpose, cultural alignment, employee engagement, recognition, inclusivity.
- Support senior leaders in articulating strategy, performance, vision to internal audiences for meetings and events.
- Execute communications tactics using a variety of digital platforms including meetings, webinars, intranet, email, digital screens, podcast, video and SMS text.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
- Accredited Bachelor’s degree.
- 6+ years of experience in corporate/internal communications or marketing.
- Demonstrated track record of leading and executing effective internal communications campaigns, change management communications, and serving a as a trusted partner for executives/senior leaders.
- Demonstrated strength in content development across all formats (email, slides, leader talking points, video, graphics, etc.).
- Strong competency with digital tools such as internal social platforms, internal email platforms, Canva, PowerPoint, etc.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal communications and relationship development skills.
- Strategic business mindset: experience measuring impact and deriving insights.
- Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple simultaneous initiatives, with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, dynamic environments, with ambiguity, and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Self-starter, able to work well as a member of a team, but also work independently with limited oversight.
- Ability to work well under pressure, and to deal well with competing priorities and a changing business environment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical devices, or highly regulated healthcare industries.
- Experience leveraging AI or automation tools (or piloting such tools) to improve content production, personalization, consistency, quality, and efficiency.
- Sales force communications experience is a plus.
- Video/webcasting/podcast knowledge is desirable.
- Experience with SharePoint, Viva Engage and other Microsoft Suite communication tools.
- Innovation and technology oriented, excited to explore and adopt new technology.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed deadlines.
TRAVEL:
- Willingness/ability to travel up to 3-4 times per year domestically. International travel may be required.
The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Illinois, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $170,000 - $190,000 and eligibility for a 15% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company’s long-term incentive plan.
