Senior Product Manager - HCP Professional Lead, Abilify Maintena



Responsible for leading the U.S. HCP professional strategy for Abilify Maintena, in collaboration with the alliance partner.  Responsible for helping to drive HCP engagement and utilization of Abilify Maintena through development of promotional tactics and initiatives for the field sales force.  This person contributes to ensuring the team meets or exceeds sales and profit objectives, as well as strategic objectives linked to HCP engagements.  This individual leads effective implementation through influencing Lundbeck and strategic alliance colleagues.  In this role it will be important to proactively engage cross-functional stakeholders in medical, sales ops, market research, sales training and field sales leadership.  This individual also coordinates and leads development of POA content and execution of brand strategy at POAs across marketing, training, and medical.  This individual also drives critical strategic projects for both product indications: schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.



Marketing Strategy

  • Leads development of the brand strategy for U.S. HCPs for Abilify Maintena by utilizing sound marketing principles and available market research
  • Works closely with sales and brand leadership to monitor brand performance and drive optimizations to increase revenue and achieve overall brand success
  • Proactively considers/identifies new strategies, tactics and vendors to challenge the team’s thinking and raise the level of performance
  • Partners with outside agencies to develop HCP strategy and manage the promotional tactics
  • Leads Abilify Maintena message evolution for schizophrenia and bipolar indications
  • Communicates and leads execution of KOL strategy cross-functionally (medical affairs, brand, global)


Marketing Execution

  • Manages day-to-day brand budget related to work stream, and ensures on-time delivery within budget
  • Drives development and implementation of HCP promotional materials
  • Drives development of selling tools for the sales force and coordinates with training to ensure all field account managers are trained
  • Functions as the primary brand team liaison with the sales force and sales operations functions
  • Drives organization and planning around field POAs for Abilify Maintena
  • Develops and executes advisory boards and consultant meetings where outputs link to HCP professional strategy and tactic development
  • For all initiatives, whenever possible, establishes ways to measure impact, reports results, and adjust plans accordingly
  • Ensures all marketing projects are compliant and have obtained necessary approvals through the appropriate medical, legal, and regulatory review process


Cross-Functional Collaboration and Influence

  • Partners closely with marketing and cross-functional team at the alliance partner to develop all brand strategies and tactics
  • Implements promotional materials and programs by providing appropriate direction to sales training and the field organization
  • Develops cross-department support of the brand by coordinating with field sales leadership, sales training, market research, medical affairs, and public relations
  • Collaborates and communicates directly with the following groups to ensure all are aligned: brand leadership, sales leadership, sales training, sales teams and other cross-functional partners
  • Partners with Medical, Legal and Regulatory Affairs to communicate reasons for strategic and tactical plans, and obtain concept buy-in before developing new initatives



  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years sales, marketing or other relevant commercial experience
  • 2+ years pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech or healthcare brand marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and build consensus
  • Demonstrated relationship development with the ability to work effectively both independently or within a cross-functional team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, namely Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills



  • MBA or Master’s Degree
  • 2+ years pharmaceutical brand marketing, specialty pharma is a plus
  • Experience selling or marketing mental health products to psychiatrists and PCPs
  • Expertise with both development of brand strategy and execution of a strategy at the tactical level
  • Experience managing third-party vendors/agencies, keeping them on-time, in budget and ensuring that their activities are aligned with brand strategy.
  • Experience in development and execution of advisory boards, consultant meetings, and the promotional speaker’s programs, as well as other medical meetings to support the product
  • Experience working within a Strategic Partnership/Co-Promotion
  • Experience developing, implementing and optimizing marketing plans
  • Experience with OPDP and FDA requirements
  • Field sales experience preferred



  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time domestically. International travel may be required once or twice per year
