(Senior) Category Manager for CAPEX

Are you looking for an opportunity to influence strategic procurement decisions in a company with a clear purpose? At Lundbeck, our Procurement organization plays a critical role in delivering value across the full value chain—from early research to the commercialization of our products—helping us improve the lives of millions of patients living with brain diseases.

Your new role – why is this a great opportunity?

As (Senior) Category Manager for CAPEX, you will have a central role in shaping Lundbeck’s future production footprint and technical infrastructure. You will lead the global CAPEX category, driving strategies and partnerships that underpin our long-term investments in manufacturing, site development, and engineering capabilities.

This is a unique opportunity to set direction and professionalize the CAPEX category through strong category management and strategic business partnering. You will influence capital planning, make-or-buy decisions, and supplier strategies that directly impact Lundbeck’s growth, agility, and competitiveness. Working closely with senior leaders across Product Development and Supply, Commercial and Finance, you will contribute to long-term investment decisions that shape Lundbeck’s operational future.

Your future team

The Corporate Procurement team is a global function comprising over 60 ambitious and passionate colleagues located in Copenhagen, Krakow, and Chicago. Together, we secure a professional and efficient source-to-pay process across the full Lundbeck value chain. Leveraging our integrated Category Management processes, we deliver value through a structured approach to strategy & planning, project execution, and stakeholder & supplier management. We foster a culture built on curiosity, adaptability, and accountability, encouraging colleagues to challenge the status quo, stay open to learning, and take ownership for creating value together.

What you bring to the team

As the (Senior) Category Manager for CAPEX, you will:

  • Develop and execute the global CAPEX category strategy — covering site infrastructure, production equipment, utilities, and engineering services
  • Drive strategic sourcing and supplier management for major capital investments, ensuring business value, risk mitigation, and long-term asset performance
  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders to shape capital planning, project prioritisation, and make-or-buy decisions across sites and functions
  • Lead supplier relationship management and governance, ensuring performance, compliance, and innovation throughout multi-year investment cycles
  • Use market insights, benchmarking, and total cost of ownership analysis to drive transparency and optimise long-term value creation
  • Contribute to building a mature, globally aligned CAPEX procurement framework that supports strategic decision-making, capital efficiency, and compliance
  • Represent Procurement in strategic investment forums, supporting project governance, due diligence, and enterprise-wide decision processes
  • Champion a mindset of curiosity, adaptability, and accountability — continuously seeking smarter, more sustainable, and value-driven ways of working

How your colleagues would describe you

We seek the following qualifications in our future (Senior) Category Manager:

  • Extensive experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or project procurement, ideally within CAPEX, construction, or complex engineering environments
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing global category strategies — preferably across large-scale investment portfolios or technical project spend areas
  • Strong business acumen and commercial insight, with the ability to translate technical project needs into sound sourcing and investment strategies
  • Skilled at operating across complex, global setups with a structured, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset, taking accountability for outcomes
  • Confident engaging senior stakeholders and influencing decisions at both project and executive level
  • Comfortable leading strategic negotiations and long-term supplier partnerships that drive innovation, sustainability, and business continuity
  • Curious about new technologies, supplier ecosystems, and industry trends — always exploring ways to improve processes and outcomes
  • Adaptable and resilient, balancing strategic leadership with operational execution in a fast-changing environment
