Senior Medical Advisor - (Neuro – Rare)
The Senior Medical Advisor (SMA) is an integral member of the Local Medical Affairs Team responsible for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, bringing insights to inform local medical launch plan and representing Lundbeck Neuro-rare portfolio as a scientific expert. Your proactive approach and effective communication skills will contribute to Lundbeck’s success in advancing innovative therapies in Neuro-rare diseases.
The SMA, reporting to the Local Head of Medical Affairs with a dotted line to Global Medical Affairs, will integrate their scientific expertise and knowledge to build lasting relationships and medical strategy for Lundbeck’s pipeline.
Your new role
As Senior Medical advisor you will be responsible for:
- Defining and executing local pre-launch strategy and activities in collaboration with Local Head of Medical Affairs and provide input into needed capacity & capabilities for Local Medical Neuro-rare team,
- Defining engagement plans with local KOLs in partnership with Local Head of Medical Affairs to develop and maintain credible, scientific relationships with and address scientific and therapeutic needs,
- Developing engagement plans that include Patient Advocacy Groups regarding ongoing Lundbeck Neuro-rare clinical programs and other medical needs,
- Supporting Phase III clinical trials by engaging local clinical trial site KOLs, Principal Investigators, and Patient Advocacy Groups to build ongoing relationships and provide educational support,
- Representing Lundbeck as a scientific expert at local congresses and relevant medical activities to build and maintain relationships with Local KOLs and Patient Advocacy Groups,
- Uncovering local medical insights from Neuro-rare Centers of Excellence, clinical trial sites, key clinical practices, KOLs and referral networks to define local patient journey and inform Global and Local medical strategies,
- In collaboration with the Local Head of Medical Affairs, leading individual corporate projects to further advance medical strategies, as assigned,
- Maintaining in-depth scientific, pharmaceutical, and clinical knowledge of Neuro-rare diseases.
- Ensuring all activities undertaken as part of your role comply and adhere to all statutory requirements including Lundbeck’s internal processes and procedures including the Lundbeck Code of Conduct, Lundbeck SOPs, IPHA /EFPIA Codes of Practice, ABPI Code of Practice and all relevant regulatory requirements.

The office is located in Watford, Hertfordshire. Regular attendance at the Watford office will be required, as well as readiness to travel nationally and internationally when required to conduct and participate in essential business activities.
What you bring to the team
- A scientific degree; BSc Pharm/MPharm, MD, PhD (or equivalent in life sciences or related field)
- 5+ years of medical affairs with a minimum of 2+ years within field medical affairs
- Possess a thorough understanding of Neuro- rare diseases
- Knowledge of relevant local regulatory guidelines for interactions with healthcare professionals, compliance, and reporting
- Able to synthesize complex field intelligence to shape engagement strategies and educational priorities to address clinical care gaps
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous and unmapped healthcare ecosystems
- Experienced and effective collaborator with Local and Global colleagues, excels at prioritization and management of intra-company dynamics
- Skilled at effectively conveying scientific data to both internal and external stakeholders, including thought leaders, patient advocacy groups, and health-care organizations
