Lundbeck Australia is currenting recruiting for a qualified Compliance and Legal Director to join our team. 

The role reports to the Managing Director and ultimately supports the Managing Director and the Leadership Team in ensuring a culture of high integrity, the compliance policies and rules and regulations and the development of the organisation’s compliance and legal procedures, policies and programs.

The role has a global collaborative outreach and the Compliance and Legal Director will be part of Lundbeck’s Regional Compliance Officer network and have a dotted line reference to Lundbeck’s Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer.

 

Your new role
The successful candidate will be responsible for enabling and protecting the organisation in all compliance and legal matters, with a focus on fostering a culture of high integrity. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to compliance policies, rules, and regulations while developing and implementing procedures, policies, and programs to mitigate risks. The role requires a time split of 70% on compliance matters and 30% on legal matters.

 

Within your principle function you will act as the Legal and Compliance Ambassador throughout the organisation. Provide support and consultancy to the company and the Management Team on compliance issues, legal matters, risk management and currently applicable and developing laws and regulations. Represent Australia and New Zealand in and contribute to the Global Legal, Compliance & Sustainability organisation by providing periodic updates on the compliance and legal developments in Australia and New Zealand and by developing and implementing new initiatives.

 

You will focus on the development and implementation of an effective regional Compliance Program in Australia and New Zealand within the legal framework and ethical standards of the pharmaceutical industry (TGA, GMP) that mitigates risks and reflects its elements in the global Compliance Program of the Code of Conduct. Monitor and interpret changes in local and international pharmaceutical regulations (e.g., TGA, FDA, EMA) and assess their impact on business operations. You will provide support and guidance in the interactions between healthcare professionals, organisations, patients, and public servants in line with the Compliance processes, laws, and regulations. Responsible for creating and administering effective action plans in response to audit findings and Compliance violations. You will be responsible for the development and review of the Lundbeck Australia and New Zealand Policies and Procedures. Drafting company policies, SOPs, and guidelines. Provide training on Compliance and legal matters (identification of training needs, employee training). Risk management: proactively map and identify compliance and legal risks, as well as outline and follow through on the risk mitigation plans. Support in coordinating the enterprise risk management process in Australia and New Zealand.

What you bring to the team

To succeed in the role, you would need to have the following qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in law, regulatory affairs, pharmacy, or related field. A legal practicing certificate is preferred, but not essential.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of proven experience in Business Ethics, Compliance and Legal (preferably within the pharmaceutical or life science industry).
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • International experience (global mindset) is a strong preference.
  • Experience in Risk Management and knowledge of industry standards.
  • Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian pharmaceutical regulations (TGA, GMP) and international standards (FDA, EMA).
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal and compliance issues in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Integrity and professional ethics.
  • Global interest and mindset and ability to collaborate and work in teams.
  • Proactive approach and ability to individually drive results.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.
