Analytical Chemist – Process Optimization Laboratory



We are looking for a skilled analytical chemist to join our great team in the Process Optimization Laboratory in Lumsås. If you are a dedicated analytical chemist – please read on.


As an analytical chemist in the Process Optimization Laboratory, you become part of the department, Chemical Production Development, which comprises 25 highly motivated and skilled colleagues who are responsible for synthetic work, development, upscaling and implementation of processes, analytical method development, and support of our API production. Our department consists of 2 teams that works closely together on Production Development Projects, along with other departments on the site.


Your job

As an Analytical Chemist in our lab, your role will be to combine your strong theoretical and practical knowhow on analytical chemistry to develop methods and support our projects and production with troubleshooting.


You will be working closely together with the other highly skilled colleagues in the laboratory, both chemists and laboratory technicians. But you will also have a lot of networking with other colleagues on the site and possible on our API site in Italy.


Your job will both be practical in the laboratory, developing, setting up and tuning analytical methods. But you should also expect some time doing documentation tasks, writing procedures, qualification of analytical equipment. We are not a QC laboratory but for some of our implementation projects, we are responsible for some release analysis of the materials. GMP or non-GMP we do both and needs to balance how we work to ensure compliance. Your role will also be to make sure that we have the appropriate GMP level to successfully pass inspections.


This job requires that you take ownership and are very self-driven, but at the same time is a team player that enjoys working with other stakeholders and involve them in your projects.


You will work independently on smaller projects and in project teams on larger projects.


Apart from the daily contact with colleagues in the department, you will also enjoy cross-organizational collaboration in a busy and productive environment, which requires strong professional and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications and competencies

Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional attributes:


  • You have a MSc or equivalent within Analytical Chemistry and experience in the field.
  • HPLC, LC-MS, GC FID/MS/Headspace, NMR, FT-IR, NIR, KF, microscopy, titration, PAT applications and other techniques are some of the ones we use a lot, any experience on these is a plus.
  • You are good at documenting your work and see the purpose of writing good instructions – if you have GMP experience it is helpful.
  • Experience with being inspected / audited - good at presenting.
  • You are energized by working with a combination of theoretical and practical assignments
  • You excel at planning and executing your work and strive to achieve deadlines
  • You are outgoing and good at collaborating with colleagues and contribute actively to maintain the good atmosphere we have in the team
  • You are flexible, result oriented and engaged with a positive attitude
  • You are fluent in Danish and English
