Would you like to work at the absolute forefront of organic flow chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry – if yes, please continue reading.

Are you a highly motivated and skilled organic chemist, who has a talent for designing and building new chemical equipment within the field of flow chemistry – then we have the job for you at Lundbeck’s API production site at Sjællands Odde.

As a Development Chemist in the Process Optimization Laboratory, you become part of the department, Chemical Production Development, which comprises 32 highly motivated colleagues. The department is responsible for synthetic work, development and implementation of processes, analytical method development, and support of the chemical production. Our department consists of three teams that works closely together on Production Development Projects, along with the other departments on the site.

You will have a leading role in the continued development of new flow chemistry processes to be implemented in the future.

Your job

As a Development Chemist in our laboratory you will not only utilize your strong synthetic development skills, but also get a unique opportunity for using your ingenuity for designing prototype equipment used within the field of flow chemistry. As such, the equipment and synthesis that you help design will make their way directly into full-scale production at our production facility.

You will be working closely together with the other highly skilled colleagues in the laboratory, both chemists, engineers and laboratory technicians. But you will also have a lot of networking with other colleagues on the site and possible on our other API site in Italy.

Your job will be mainly practical in the laboratory, developing, setting up and fine-tuning new flow systems. The systems are likely to come from your own ideas, through theoretical calculations, practical laboratory work and then finally moved into implementation.

The job requires that you are able to work well with various teams, with very different educational background, but simultaneously take ownership of the projects and makes sure that these gets implemented.

You efficiently document your work in status reports and development reports. You will work independently on smaller projects and in project teams on larger projects. Apart from the daily contact with colleagues in the department, you will also enjoy cross-organizational collaboration in a busy and productive environment, which requires strong professional and interpersonal skills.

The close link to the production processes provides a dynamic and changeable environment where every day is different and the ability to adjust is key.
