As part of your two-year graduate journey at Lundbeck you will be exposed to various parts of the business and encounter many exciting challenges across the company. CMC Biologics in Lundbeck

CMC Biologics is part of Chemistry Pharmaceutical Research (CPR), an organization responsible for development, manufacturing and quality aspects of different development candidates progressing into and through different phases of clinical development.


CMC Biologics has the responsibility of all biologics based development candidates and ensures that these candidates progress through development stages (cell line, upstream, downstream and analytical) to manufacturing, release and characterization. These activities are out-sourced to Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMO’s) and Contract Research Organizations (CRO’s) and thus performed in collaboration with different companies with a global presence.


CMC Biologics consists of 10 highly experienced colleagues in Lundbeck Headquarters in Valby, Copenhagen and has a flat structure with efficient and short decision pathways. We operate in a matrix organization, structured around cross-departmental Focus Teams with representation from all disciplines in the division. You will become part of these energetic teams and work in an exciting international, fast-paced and changing environment.


Your job and the journey

Your will begin your graduate journey in CMC Biologics, who are responsible for developing all biological based candidates to support clinical development. We execute the different projects in very close collaboration with colleagues in CPR and Global Product Development and Supply and with other areas of the Lundbeck organization including Research, Non-clinical Safety Research, Clinical Development, Medical & Regulatory Science, and R&D Project and Business Management. 


You will collaborate with highly specialized colleagues around various aspects of process development and manufacturing and be involved in e.g.:

  • Cell line, Upstream and Downstream Process Development
  • Analytical development and characterization
  • Scale-up, manufacturing and release
  • Scenarios for scale-up and supply
  • Global collaboration with CMO’s and CRO’s

Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to work on two short-term assignments in Research and other areas of CPR. The assignments will help you to understand the link between the biology of our development candidates and how that translates into development aspect of such candidates. In other areas of CPR you will be involved in activities more closely related with clinical development of our lead candidates.  


During the programme you will participate in a wide range of development activities on your own as well as with other graduates - everything designed to guide you through the programme, making sure you are on track and able to unfold your potential.


At the end of the graduate program, you will have gained broad experience within development of biologics based drug candidates and will be able to lead, influence and enable the drug development process of such candidates.



Our preferred graduate has the following qualifications:

  • You have a university degree in science or engineering preferably with a Ph.D degree in one of these areas with a maximum of one year post-academic work experience
  • Above average academic achievements and excellent English language skills
  • You are ambitious and push yourself to achieve results
  • You are eager to learn, contribute and apply knowledge
  • You build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • You actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels
  • You adapt your approach and demeanour in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations
  • You are an excellent organiser with a high personal drive

Recruitment process

The recruitment process will have an additional screening process between the submission of your application and the 1st round of interviews. Once all applications have been received we will process them and you may be invited to submit a 1-minute video presentation. Based on the videos, we will invite 5-6 applicants for the 1st round of interviews.
