External Supply Chain in Lundbeck

The department External Supply Chain consists of nine employees and is a part of the business unit Supply Chain & Facility Management, which employs 300 employees in Denmark, France and USA. External Supply Chain is located at Lundbeck Headquarter in Valby, Denmark, and plays a key role in ensuring supply reliability for existing and future products. We are responsible for supporting the supply chain by securing availability of externally sourced components and managing contract manufacturing organizations.

 

External Supply Chain drives Lundbeck’s Supplier Performance Management System, which serves to monitor and improve supplier performance within quality, reliability and cost. Together with internal stakeholders from quality, manufacturing and sourcing, we work to increase the value from external suppliers and thereby contribute to creating the best supply chain in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

The Lean philosophy is an integral part of our daily work and we continuously strive to improve processes across the supply chain. We interact with several different departments in Lundbeck across our sites in Denmark, France, USA and Italy, as well as our supplier base of more than 400 suppliers. We encourage our employees to take initiative and to work closely together to ensure that we make the right priorities.

 

Your job

As a Supply Chain Planner in External Supply Chain you will be assigned the task of securing supplies from a group of suppliers. This means you will have the operational and tactical responsibility for ensuring availability of products by creating forecasts, ordering products and monitoring inventory development. You will be the connection point between the internal and the external supply chain and will coordinate activities accordingly. Communication and cooperation with a wide spectre of internal and external stakeholders will be an integrated part of your job.

You will be involved in improving the setup, cooperation and performance for your suppliers. As well you will get the opportunity to be involved in improving our procurement/logistical processes at Lundbeck.

We expect you to play an active role in our aim for continuously improving the processes in External Supply Chain and across the entire Lundbeck supply chain.

In addition, there will be a need for you to participate in or drive projects within the department as well as across areas and cultures.

You are driven by both operational and development activities.

Some travel activity may be expected.

What we are looking for

Our preferred candidate has the following qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field (supply chain management, business or equivalent)
  • Good supply chain understanding and excellent English language skills
  • Experience from a similar position; driving or coordinating activities in a supply chain
  • Project experience,
  • You take initiative and enjoy creating results with others
  • You have ambitions and push yourself to achieve results
  • You are eager to learn, contribute and apply knowledge
  • You build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • You can structure complex issues and independently establish solutions  
  • You are a competent user of Excel, and experience with SAP will be an advantage
